any suggestions on how to induce labour?

I am almost 39 weeks preg and so want this baby out of me!!! My last baby was 8 days early. I thought that I was in labour last night as I was having contractions every five mins (for about 3 hours) but then I went to bed and when I woke they had stopped. This has happened the last few days now and I am just so fed up. Any suggestions welcome especially if they have worked for you. Thanks.

my baby was born 2 weeks early because my husband and i had sex that night. i know it is probably very difficult but if you could even do it a minute or two with your partner, it might get contractions going within a few hours.

I will be honest with you, I have never been pregnant. So I can not tell you if there is anything that you can do. I would suggest talking to your doctor though because they can induce you. But if they dont' think that you need to be induced they won't do it. And if you thought you were having contractions, then you are probably close to having your child anyways. Just wait it out, or discuss it with the doctor. I am sure that someone could give you some ways, but you never know if it is something that will harm the baby in the long run. It's not worth it to take a chance, just wait it out, then you know everything will be perfect. Good luck and Congratulations.

My first was 3 days early, wih my 2nd I started having contractions every 3-5 minutes Aug. 25th. They slowed down and stopped. I dialated to a 4 by my OB appointment that week and my doctor told me to go home walk and have sex and I would be back probably within a day or 2.I tried nipple stimulation, warm bath/showers, eating pineapple, sex, walking, squatting, spicy food, cleaning, visualization, and my contractions were still 3-5 minutes apart. I too was on yahoo answers reading every trick in the book and trying them but I stayed that way until I gave birth on the 16th of September. Ended up being way overdue. You never know what baby will do. My advice is to take your mind off of it and enjoy being pregnant (easier said than done) because it will happen, no need to rush it and since you already have children you how quickly they grow up.

Sex and walking I also used an exercise ball I bounced on that when I was at the computer or when i watched tv. It helps stretch your pelvis, cervix, and move the baby down I swear it helped me. Look up birth ball.

I know how you feel I was 40 weeks and 4 days when I had my little girl. I had my membranes swept on a Monday went into labour on Thursday.

Hang in there the last few weeks are the worst.

IF you don't have to induce, DON:T DO IT!!! Your labor will be much more intense and painful because of the drugs, and if they break your water there will be less cushion for those contractions when they hit!!!!! Walking has been known to cause labor, eating spicy foods, doing housework ( which kills two birds with one stone), having sex, and there are certain pressure points ( like for example one on your hand in between your thumb and index finger on the fleshy, webby part that you press that can help contractions start). When i was pregnant I walked a lot, and that really helped! GOOD LUCK and CONGRATS!!

the only true way you can enduce labour is to be medicaly enduced by a doctor. you can try every wives tale or magic potion you like but i assure you, baby will come when s/he is ready, just let the baby do what needs to be done and be patient.. if you havnt gone into labour then theres a reason for that and your doc/midwife will enduce you after a week past your due date anyway so at the MOST you have got 2 weeks...baby is bound to come before then. patience is a vertue :)

Caster oil. I had 4 table spoons 5 days before my due date and had her that night. It tasted terrible and you might spend a good half hour on the toilet but then labour starts! Have a big glass of juice as a chaser because it is awful stuff!

I tried it with my second but i kept gagging and bringing it back up. I either wasnt desperate enough or my body remembered and wasnt going to let it in.

Im preggers with number 3 now and every day i get closer to considering giving it another try!

If your pretty much ready to go anyway it will definatly work!!!

Having sex is a common way to induce labour

Also eating spicy food and taking a long walk have also been effective for people i know!

My sister had the same problem with 2 of her pregnancies. We had our brother take her for a ride on his Harley for a while. 2 hours later, she went into labor. So we tried it again with the next one. Same thing,, 2 hours later she went into labor. Don't know if it'll work for you, but it sure worked for her.. LMAO

My wife and I alternated between having sex and her taking hot baths....it worked very well. She went into labour the first night that we tried.
