Can I bake fresh strawberries with brownies?
I have a lot of strawberries in my fridge and I was wondering if I could slice them up and mix them in brownie batter without disastrous results. I don't have any dried strawberries and I don't want to freeze them either because I already started making the batter.

Strawberries don't cook as well in baked goods (I made strawberry muffins once). They make it all soggy and don't really add much for taste. I would serve them on the side with the brownies. If you insist on using them, make sure to dice them up small. Don't put in entire slices.

They only thing you have to worry about is the brownie batter having too much liquid. You could try to reduce liquid someplace else, but I think your best bet would be to make a strawberry "sauce" or syrup with the fresh fruit and spoon some over the fresh brownie when you go to serve it. With some whip cream it would look really good and taste even better. I would go for it. I've used this over Cheesecake, and bet it would be good here also. 1pint strawberries, cleaned and stemmed 1/3 cup white sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla Cut the strawberries in half (unless they are small). In a saucepan over medium high heat, combine strawberries, sugar and vanilla. Cook, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat, and let it cool enough to put in the blender. In a blender, puree about 1/3 of sauce, then mix back into remainder. Store in refrigerator.

Instead of adding them to the batter, slice them up, add a little sugar and a few tbl spoons of water and later serve over the brownies with whip cream

i've never baked them right into the brownies but brownies taste amazing with sliced strawberries (mixed with a little sugar) ontop.
