What can you make with 1 pint of heavy whipping cream?

I realized tonight that I have an entire pint of heavy whipping cream that needs to be used this week.

I don't really have any recipes that call for that much whipping cream. I do plan on making some whipped cream with it but you can only eat so much of that.

So any good recipes that call for a fair amount of it? Desserts or other. I don't really love cream sauces but anything else is fair game.

Thanks!

Put it in the coldest part of your fridge for a few hours (not the freezer), then pour it into a cold glass jar with a lid and shake the heck out of it. After about 10 minutes, you'll have fresh butter. If you want it salted, add a very small amount of salt before shaking. Pour out the water that will separate from the butter or transfer the butter to another clean, dry jar. Store in the fridge. It's an absolute treat on fresh crusty bread!

    Ice Cream.

It's better if you have a maker, but even if you don't you can use a blender, and freeze the results.

    see

    http://www.ice-cream-recipes.com/recipes.htm or

    http://www.ice-cream-recipes.com/without_ice_cream...

There are two ways to make ice cream: with or without eggs. Eggs make it richer, but depending on your palate, you may not notice or care one way or the other.

The no egg way quick basics ingredients:

    2 cups (1 pint) cream

    2 cups milk

    1 cup sugar

~2-3 tsp flavoring (works well for vanilla, walnut, almond; use less for stronger flavors)

Keep liquid items as cold as possible, and blend them together. After wards, freeze.

Read the above web site, or do a search for ice cream recipes for more specifics, but most will give you only slight variations on the above.

Yes I have done this, yes it tastes good. It's not Ben and Jerry, but it IS good.

    Happy Cream!

You can make whipped cream and store it in your fridge, it lasts up to a week.

Also, you can make an icebox cake. I don't have any recipes, but it's basically a chocolate wafers and whipped cream cake. It sort of looks like a zebra cake thing. I'll try and find some recipes.

A casserole made with pork, shredded cabbage and cream is one of my favorites. The cabbage and cream cook down to make something almost like a sauce. I'm sure there is something similar in recipes.com or a similar website, The one I use is from The

Fannie Farmer Cookbook. It also has a little caraway seed, paprika and topped with swiss cheese. Definitely not for dieters.

If you mix 1/2 pt. whipping cream with a large jar of green chile verde sauce you have a great sauce for chicken enchiladas. Is that what you meant?

I usually put some heavy cream in a bowl with raspberries and some sugar. Its delicious!

If you want to cook something, you could try to do something savory. Mashed potatoes are great with butter and heavy whipping cream. So are soups, especially cheddar broccoli soup.

    FETTUCINI ALFREDO

    1/2 cup real butter

    1 pint heavy whipping cream

2/3 cup Parmesan/Romano cheese, freshly grated

1 teaspoon garlic powder (or 1 tablespoon fresh minced garlic)

    salt (to taste)

    freshly ground black pepper

    dash cayenne pepper

    1 lb. fettuccine

    fresh parsley, chopped

Prepare fettucine pasta as directed on box. Drain; melt a pat of butter on still-hot pasta or stir in several drops of olive oil to keep pasta from sticking. Stir to coat evenly.

Meanwhile, in a saucepan over low to medium heat, melt the butter. Add cream, garlic (or garlic powder), and cayenne.

Simmer 20-30 minutes over low heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens.

    Season with salt to taste.

Remove saucepan from stove and stir in cheese.

Serve over hot pasta. Sprinkle on freshly ground black pepper. (Ground Peppercorn Medley - red, green and white adds a splash of color and flavor). Garnish with parsley.

** fettucini is simply wonderful with ham or grilled chicken

Blend it with a little vanilla extract and sugar and make fresh whipped cream. Then you can dollop it onto almost anything you want from fresh fruit to ice cream.
