    *sigh*

You seem to be under the mistaken impression that the reason the whole world isn't Christian is just because we haven't gotten the message yet.

I already recognize the truth in Christianity--but Christianity does NOT contain all the truth there is, and that is the biggest gulf between us. I outgrew Christianity before I hit puberty, and I honestly can't think of anything that you or anyone else could say or do that would make me return to its narrow cloisters.

Jesus could come talk to the entire world in the sky, speaking to everyone in their native language at the same time. This is reported in the papers all over the entire world. Then he changes the moon to cheese (or something else equally impossible by any form of advanced technology). This is the same thing that it would take me to believe that any religion was right.

If we're going for a generic designer god, if aliens came to our planet and looked almost exactly like us a la Star Trek.

evaluate those motives: a) You lump all jointly and bump them into an analogous catagory. you have no longer met a million/ten thousand of the worldwide's Christians. Ask those in India your question. b) constantly is somewhat difficult to have self assurance. Are you quite suggesting that a clerk who's Christian promises you a stupid answer once you ask what day it relatively is or what the fee is? c) Your question is a fantastic one that maximum human beings would not be waiting to answer. lots as though i replaced into to ask you which ones letter of St. Paul relatively is two letters or what e book is II Peter an purely approximately suited reproduction of. We each and each have our catagories of wisdom. d) Now, having spoke back your question, mine would be - why would an aspiring Atman-Brahman ask this form of question and greater importantly, experience unhappy?

I have debated many, many Christians and i always wind up taking the offensive. (after time to reflect some have become atheists and attributed it to me) no current Christian argument sways me so I guess you would have to come up with a new one that was F**king amazing or something or a "miracle" that very obviously broke the laws of physics. Wait no, sorry that could be ways to make me believe in god, but really nothing could make me a Christian.

I think that even just asking this question shows up a huge problem with Christianity - i.e. the urge to evangelize. They should stop going door to door like salespeople; and just wait for people to come to them; as I'm sure many will; once they feel that this particular 'truth' will work for them.

  • I understand Christianity. It just does not seem like a legitimate truth to me. The only thing that could show me that ti was true was if I saw God and Jesus by my own eyes. Otherwise, nope.

PS: You cannot ask a question in R&S without getting a stupid answer.

    1. Religion should never have become a door-to-door sale.

    2. Very kindly, I'd tell them I wasn't interested. I was raised christian and I have reasons for turning my back on that religion. I would ask them to be tolerant of my views and I'm not interested in their sale.

    3. Truth.... what truth? whose truth? Like beauty, truth is in the eye of the beholder.

Sheesh! I'm just not a fan of this religious pushing stuff. Please, respect that people have the right to choice!

As an ex-Chistian, someone who has read the Bible in multiple languages, a lot more than that. I wouldn't mind if they came, after all, I know that "soul-winning" is very important to them, but nothing they could say as mortals and flawed humans could do it.

Words cannot negae the truth of something like a near-death-experience, nor the closeness and the protection I receive from my deities.

I've had this happen and the only thing that would make me a believer is actual physical evidence. Either witnessing God, witnessing a miracle or a creation for my eyes to see. I don't believe what others say...no second-hand tales of miracles. They can be faked too easily. People lie to feel important.

Nothing short of God himself descending from the heavens onto my porch and having a rational discussion with me. Even after that, I would go to the hospital, get thoroughly checked out, and then I would consider that it may be true, but even still, I would be very doubtful.

God himself would have to repeatedly give me demonstrable evidence.

If you really want to know what the thought process in answering a question like this is, ask yourself this question: "If someone came up to me and started to tell me about his imaginary friend, what would it take to convince me that his imaginary friend actually exists."
