How do you give your toddler/children a bath?

Okay so the other day I observed a good friend of mine give her one year old a bath. I have never seen anyone in my entire life, give a bath in this way. I am a mom of a four year old, and I just wondered am I totally off base, or do others do this as well? My friend runs a little water into the tub, allows her son to splash and play a while, then she lets out the water, lathers him up head to toe with soap and shampoo, and runs water into an open drain tub and begins rinsing him off.. I am looking at this, thinking to myself this poor boy must be freezing! How do you bathe your kiddo's?

I fill up the bath 1/3 of the way or so and put my daughter in (she's 14 months) We let her splash around and play with toys and bubbles and all that. She's starting to want to put her face under which I guess is good because she is larning she has to hold her breath. After playing a bit we shampoo her hair and wash off her body with a wash cloth and soap, then get her to stand up and rinse her off with running water, then wrap her up in a towel to dry. Then get her pj's on and bed time :)

I start with drawing a bath "usually half full in the tub". My kids climb in first step is washing hair. I wash my daughters hair and then my sons. Then rinse. Next comes washing the face. Both faces get washed with just a wet cloth. Then onto the body. I wash both then rinse both. Then they play in the tub for 15 -20 minutes. Then it's time for the water to go home for the night. "my kids are 18 months and 3" I do rinse them off with fresh water from the tap. Just to insure all the soap is off of them. This is an every night routine. They never shiver, and are always out of the tub before the water starts getting cold.

I run the bath a little warm (my hubby thinks it's too warm). I leave the water running and I put both my kids in the tub. They love to play with the water flowing from the faucet. I wash their body and then let them play for a while. I wash their hair last (so they won't get cold). After I rinse their hair, I pull the drain plug and turn the water back on. They play with the water from the faucet until most of the water drains from the tub. Then I get them out.

Yeah that seems like a very strange way to bathe a child. Does sound like he'd get really cold. I fill the water up to belly button level and let my 21 month old splash around, lather up her hair as she is playing and use a cup to rinse it off. I figure the bubble bath soap and the shampoo running down her body is getting her clean enough, so I dont normally soap up her whole body...unless she is exceptionally dirty that day.

I have a 3 year old and a 18 month old. I put them in the tub as I am adding water, fill it so it is up to their waists. I let them play with their toys for about 30-45 minutes, then wash their hair and their bodys, rinse them off, take out toys, drain water and get them out and dried off and dressed

I would fill the tub with 4 -5 inches of warm water, put the toddler in. Let them play a while. Wash body, rinse with water from the tub, put shampoo on child's hair, lather. Rinse with water in plastic jug which is clean warm water from the tap. When we are done, remove child from water, wrap in warm towel, cuddle, dry and dress in clean pyjamas - nothing is sweeter than a lovely, clean toddler!

I let my daughter sit in the bathtub while it fills up. I turn off the water and let her play as long as she wants. Sometimes she's in there until the water is freezing, it doesn't seem to bother her at all. She tells me "READY TO WASH MA!" when she's ready to get out. I come in, wash her body and hair, and let her rinse her head under the faucet.. this is new, she just started doing it herself.

    She is 2.

I either just fill the tub to the drain over-flow, or toss him in with me while I shower, and plug the drain. Yeah - your friends way would seem freezing.

I put her in, put her toys in, run the water, turn water off. She plays, I wash her, wash her hair last b/c she screams bloody murder, get her out, in a towel, send her to her room, pick up toys, let water out, go to her room, dry, lotion, diaper, clothes, hair.

If it's like a little baby in a bathtub than that's fine, but if it's like of an 8 year old naked than no.
