Christians, serious questions...?

If God is so powerful, all-powerful in fact, how come he had to send his only son to die for our sins? Can't I alone atone for my sins considering God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-loving? Why couldn't all-loving, all-knowing, and all-powerful God just forgive us without the suffering of anyone, especially his only son?

Do you believe in free will and that God has a plan? Then how is it that all-knowing God created you to fit his plan, doesn't this negate free will?

Why do some Christians push the old "You're going to Hell," thing so much? Is it a Christian's place to judge, discriminate, and be intolerant toward others?

These are just some questions on my mind and I mean absolutely no offense to anyone, and obviously not everyone's guilty of intolerance and what not.

I think Christ was an example of love and forgiveness to us. We think in human terms and are so limited by the physical world and our finite minds. People need to see what the character of God would be in this world. I think the ancient sacrifices were more for man to feel he had done something to "earn" forgiveness from God. Christ was God providing that ultimate sacrifice for us. By giving his own life out of love for us, God showed the depth of His love and forgiveness in a way we could understand.

I don't push the "going to hell" idea so much as the "why don't you want a lifelong and eternal relationship with God?" idea. Those who ultimately choose separation from God will get what they wish for. I don't claim to know the details of what that will be like, but it's your choice, not God's.

These are good questions though, and a lot of Christians and non-Christians struggle with these types of issues. We'll never have all our questions answered. The best we can do is trust in God and follow His will as best we can discern it.

"Why couldn't all-loving, all-knowing, and all-powerful God just forgive us without the suffering of anyone, especially his only son?"

He could, but then He would be a liar, and God can't lie. So...he can't. God said that sin would lead to death. So...death either must happen, or God must lie. Why did He say it in the first place then? Sin separates us from God. That's just the way it is. God doesn't wish for us to be separated. Many physical things represent spiritual things.

"Do you believe in free will and that God has a plan? Then how is it that all-knowing God created you to fit his plan, doesn't this negate free will?"

I don't see a problem with God knowing what I'm going to do. It's my choice. He just knows what the choice will be. Also, since I have sinned, I'm obviously not following His perfect plan for my life. Fortunately, God is a God of second chances and backup plans.

"Why do some Christians push the old "You're going to Hell," thing so much? Is it a Christian's place to judge, discriminate, and be intolerant toward others?"

So, my friend is driving way too fast. There's a cliff ahead. I tell him he's in danger of going over a cliff and he says to stop judging him and being intolerant of his driving. Am I being intolerant, or am I caring? To Christians, this is a similar thing. We aren't looking down on others, we are just trying to repeat the warning in the Bible. By the way - it is the Christians place to judge accurately and fairly.

If you would like to ask Christ to be your Lord and savior, that would be cool. Check out www.Godlovestheworld.com to see how.

I will answer one question but it seems by your questions already having your answer, that you don't want the truth, if you did you would hear a person out and then weigh the answers: "Is it a Christian's place to judge, discriminate, and be intolerant toward others?"*** Yes we are to judge a tree by it's fruit.-------------Matthew 7:16  Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17  Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18  A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19  Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20  Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

    Answer to first question

The reason why he sent his only begotten son to die on the cross and have him resurrect on the third day is because it is the only way God can receive Glory from man. God demands absolute perfection in holiness. And the problem is we aren't holy. God demands that you obey his commandments but we have broken them. As Paul writes in Roman we all fall short to glory of God. What this mean is that we never would of come to God never know God, that we are enslaved to our sins, our own desire we never could of Love God. The problem isn't that we sin, the problem is that we do nothing but sin. So someone had to pay the price for our sins. Why because we were under the wrath of God. Jesus had to die to reconcile us to a Holy and Glorious God. You must understand who God is. N u will be able to know who he is by reading the Bible then you will get a clear picture of why Jesus had to die.

    2 question

What people must understand is that Salvation is a Super Natural Work of God and only He can change someone heart and mind. And yes we do have free will. I believe myself save because God has work in me. How i know, well the sins I once love i know hate. The God i once hate i now love. Yes i can go drink, go party or what ever but I choose not to because God has save me and i no longer desire those things anymore. I desire to be like Jesus Christ. But i certainly can do what ever I want but I choose to follow Jesus.

I don't believe anyone should say you are going to hell unless he or she has explain to you fully the truth of the Gospel with love and compassion. He or she has the right to say if you don't follow Jesus then you will go to hell because its what scripture teaches. But i understand why 1 may tellanother who is living in sin that you are going to hell. I don't like to say it but its true. IF you are living in sin, you will go to hell. But I pray for those who don't know Jesus that they will come to know him. For we are save by faith alone in Jesus Christ n that is proceeded and follow by repentance, a turning away from sin. Ask one question at a time for a better response. Gods plan for salvation is complicated and is of a Spiritual nature and for HIS reasons and not ours.

    God bless you.

These questions are not even logical let alone substantive.

It is doctrine that God had no necessity in the Redemption.

The concepts of plan and free-will aren't even commensurable. Are you equating free-will with something that has no reference to GOOD. Just do what you want because freedom is better than Bliss. Well then you introduce 'goodness' by the fact you are argue that it is 'better'. So utterly stupid as to make me wonder whether you ever took logic.

Look, get the facts THEN ruminate on them.

    Peace to you!

I shall answer your question from an Islamic perspective:

If God is so powerful, all-powerful in fact, how come he had to send his only son to die for our sins? Can't I alone atone for my sins considering God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-loving? Why couldn't all-loving, all-knowing, and all-powerful God just forgive us without the suffering of anyone, especially his only son?

    Qur'an:

[57:27] Subsequent to them, we sent our messengers. We sent Jesus the son of Mary, and we gave him the Injeel (Gospel), and we placed in the hearts of his followers kindness and mercy. But they invented hermitism which we never decreed for them. All we asked them to do was to uphold the commandments approved by GOD. But they did not uphold the message as they should have. Consequently, we gave those who believed among them their recompense, while many of them were wicked.

[57:28] O you who believe, you shall reverence GOD and believe in His messenger. He will then grant you double the reward from His mercy, endow you with light to guide you, and forgive you. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

[57:29] Thus, the followers of previous scripture should know that they have not monopolized GOD's mercy and grace, and that all grace is in GOD's hand. He bestows it upon whomever He wills. GOD is Possessor of Infinite Grace.

Do you believe in free will and that God has a plan? Then how is it that all-knowing God created you to fit his plan, doesn't this negate free will?

God point. We Muslims believe, that it is the duty of man to submit totally to God. Why? Because God has prepared a fate for you in this life, however, there are things that if you do, God will change your fate and determine another fate for you. For example: You were destined to die as a result of a snake bite. You see a poor person lying on the ground begging for money. So you stop for a second, and as you stop, the snake passes by without noticing you. Thus God determines another fate for you because you paid charity to the poor man. But all in all, God knows all things and is in control of all things. You are accountable for your deeds and what your mind accepts and rejects (in matters of faith).

Why do some Christians push the old "You're going to Hell," thing so much? Is it a Christian's place to judge, discriminate, and be intolerant toward others?

This is a point where Christains and Muslims agree upon. "You're going to Hell". But... One cannot value the great injustice he is doing to God's right when he disbelieves in Him. In Islam, associating idols besides God or disbelieving in Him is the worst sin because it is an act against God directly and not through his commandments.

[4:48] GOD does not forgive idolatry, but He forgives lesser offenses for whomever He wills. Anyone who sets up idols beside GOD, has forged a horrendous offense.

We Muslims do not discriminate others because they are nonbelievers. Ironically there are some groups who claim to be faithful Muslims although they are not, and terrorize the people in the name of religion. The Prophet (pbuh) taught us two things that these so called "Muslims" are negligent of. The Prophet (pbuh) warned us in an authentic narration: "Beware of Extremism" and he repeated it three times. And the other thing is that the Prophet (pbuh) warned us that he who treats the disbelievers in a bad manner shall not receive the intercession of the prophet (a mercy from God to those who rightly follow God's commandments and believe).

[4:114] There is nothing good about their private conferences, except for those who advocate charity, or righteous works, or making peace among the people. Anyone who does this, in response to GOD's teachings, we will grant him a great recompense.

[8:39] You shall fight them to ward off oppression, and to practice your religion devoted to GOD alone. If they refrain from aggression, then GOD is fully Seer of everything they do.

    -------------------------------

[4:171] O people of the scripture, do not transgress the limits of your religion, and do not say about GOD except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was a messenger of GOD, and His word that He had sent to Mary, and a revelation from Him. Therefore, you shall believe in GOD and His messengers. You shall not say, "Trinity." You shall refrain from this for your own good. GOD is only one god. Be He glorified; He is much too glorious to have a son. To Him belongs everything in the heavens and everything on earth. GOD suffices as Lord and Master.

How could you atone for your own sin? The penalty is death.

you are correct. there cannot be an all knowing god AND still have free will.

however, christians will try to reconcile this.
