What's wrong with my cat?

He is losing weight at a pretty good clip. He no longer grooms himself or licks his chops after eating. He has trouble eating/chewing. He mashes his food down in the bowl while eating and I have to "refresh" it with a fork before he can continue. He is often doing something with his mouth which makes a noise like someone with dry mouth, but he cocks his head to the side when he does it and moves his tongue. A while ago, he stopped eating dry food/treats and he stopped using his water bowl and now will only drink from a trickle of water running in the tub, but even then, he doesn't lap it...he sorta bites it. He seems sad all the time...maybe in pain? He looks like he did the day I brought him home from getting his teeth cleaned. He's 17. The Vet looked him over and didn't find anything unusual, but we didn't do a CAT scan. His blood is fairly normal (elevated thyroid, but not much...slightly diabetic, but not much). His sister from the same litter is perfectly fine.

it's most likely old age, he sounds like he's, and i hate saying this, getting ready to pass on, bring him to the vet to be checked out and tell him everything that's been going on since his last vet visit

by making use of the time you improve into conscious of a transformation on your cat's habit the cat has been in misery for incredibly a while. No thank you to tell what's incorrect of direction, vomiting is a symptom of many stuff, a probability poisoning. The diagnosis desires to made by making use of the veterinarian. To do? go exterior and get the cat into the residing house. Take the cat in to the veterinarian ASAP.

You cat is either diabetic or it is not, there is no "slightly" when it comes to diabetes.

Either the blood glucose levels are within normal range or they are not.

What do you mean by "slightly diabetic, but not much"?

What was the blood glucose number in the blood work?

You need to take him to the vet. It could be old age or it could be feline immunodeficiency virus or feline leukemia. Whether it is a big deal or not you still need to make sure for the sake of your furry friend.

Sounds like old age to me, If the vet can't help and make his life better, you might want to think about letting him go. He is really old it just might be that time.

Sounds like old age. You should probably take him back to the vet, especially if he didn't have these symptoms last time he was there.

    sounds like old age.

if he is not grooming, he is not happy.

probably too old and sore to bend and groom himself. mouth probably hurts too much to chew.

i would say good bye and put him down.
