Just do it as you would any Uni submission - outline your hardwork/study ethic ie how you will benefit and develop resulting from the excellent course on offer etc and have some idea as to your chosen career progression.

Above all demonstrate enthusiasm.

Well first if your gonna get a recommendation you might want to download formal temp lets at microsoft office online and you always need to use proper edict when you are writing to someone that specializes in any career . make sure you include all the details and be specific about what your writing.
