Having trouble with "monsters" in little sister's bedroom?
This problem has actually gotten worse since my sister saw an episode of Wubbzy talking about monsters. She said she saw monsters on the back of my mom's door, and my brother taped over the "monsters" in my mom's bedroom. It took care of it too, but my mom wants her to sleep in her own bedroom.
Well, we bought her a special blanket (we asked her if she would be willing to sleep in her bed if we got it and she said yes she would) and put it on her bed, but now she says there's monsters under her bed! I took the mattress off the frame and showed her there wasn't but she's still "no, there's a monster under my bed". Anyone have any ideas on how to help us getting her to sleep in her bed??
In case you're wondering:
I thought of blocking off under her bed with a pillow or something she can't see through, but my mom doesn't think it'll work.
Wubbzy is actually a kid's show (they were trying to show kids monsters didn't exist and unfortunately it had a reverse effect with her!). We have her a nightlight that lights up the entire room and it didn't help either. I'll tell my mom about the spray bottle and see what she says. Thanks for the suggestions btw!! If anyone else has any ideas plz post.

We've told her they're not real, and we even told her the things on the door weren't monsters. She screamed "no" at us and burst into tears.
She does watch Seasame Street and understands those are monsters, but says these are different monsters. Plus with the door if you look on it it looks like flaming skulls, so I don't know what she's made it into.
We tried the spray and it didn't work (lets just say someone in the house didn't understand and showed her how to spray it in people's faces) e.e but thanks for the advice.

Get a squirt bottle, fill it with water, and at bed time squirt around her room and under her bed, tell her it is Monster-be-Gone, and all the monsters are gone now!
Tell her that they wouldn't dare come back now she has the spray.
You could even write on the bottle in permanent marker "Monster-be-Gone Spray"

My mom said my older brother was the same way when he was little. My dad came up the idea to take a spray bottle, put water in it and tell him it was monster spray(to keep the monsters away!), then he would take outside and spray it all around the house and under the bed, so the monsters wouldn't come in the house. My dad did this for a couple weeks and my brother stopped being scared of monsters. =)

Did she ever watch Sesame Street. All the characters are monsters and they are nice. You need to convince her that either there are no monsters, because there arent or that monsters are pretend and when they are pretend they are nice like elmo and cookie monster.
I guess for a child it is hard, you shouldn't play into monsters being real. when she says there are monsters just tell her the truth. There are no monsters! by your brother taping over the monsters it told her there are monsters so she will keep thinking they are in your home. Try and convince her her brother is silly and he was pretending to tape the monsters but there really arent any. Bring her to your mothers room and take the tape off and say seee!! if there was a monster it would still be here but there isnt so there isnt anything to be afraid of...

I had the same problem with my son and then one time I saw either on TV or a movie (I think) this mother who had a can of airfreshner and called it the "monster spray" and sprayed a little bit of it in the cupboards and under the bed - basically all the places that monsters hide..and the monster spray would kill the monsters (or scare them away). I tried it with my little boy and guess what- he isnt scared anymore! He just puts a little spray in the cupboard before bed and the monsters are gone.

Snowbarb has the best idea but to go one further I recommend adding a bit of Fabreeze or perfume to the water bottle. Or go to Bath and Body works and purchase some of their "pillow" spray, I have Lavender/Chamomile it makes the bed and room smell so good and is relaxing.

My youngest daughter had the same problem. Along with the monster spray (worked like a charm for me), you can line up her stuffed animals around her bed (my daughter has a lot, so they went all around her bed) or buy her one of those big stuffed animals from Target and tell her that they are there to protect her from the montser. This helped calm my daughter becuase all the animals were there to protect her!

you could do away with her bed frame for the time being so there is no underneath.just use the mattress and box spring, if it has one.
this may sound strange but you could also try to find a clip from supernatural on youtube showing them using the salt to get rid of monsters and let her sprinkle some

I saw this on one of the nanny shows. You need monster spray, Get a spray bottle, and fill it with water and a little lavender oil(calming, but that's our secret). Spray it in the needed areas. Kool huh!

Tell her that monsters are scared of the light then get her a night light. She'll out grow it. And, don't let her watch any more monster movies.
