Your thoughts on gun-control?
If you had the power to rewrite the nation's gun laws any way you choose, how would you do it? Total ban? Less restriction? Ban on certain types? I personally think that any adult with no criminal record and a clean bill of mental health should be able to own any type of gun.

gun control is illegal. the US constitution clearly states that people are allowed to keep and bear arms, gun control restricts the people's right to do that and therefore is completely 100% unconstitutional. if the first amendment was controlled like the 2nd amendment, i bet people would have to obtain a license just to speak their mind about something. and if they don't, guess what, its felony. That's what gun control is like.
I would make gun control illegal and anyone who believes that is not acceptable I shall mangle the rest of their constitutional freedoms just like how they believe the 2nd amendment should be mangled. They'll need a license to speak their opinions about something, just like how some people in this nation needs license to buy a gun. They'll need to pay tax to have freedom of religion, I'm pretty sure people will quickly see the error of their ways regarding supporting gun control and change their minds.
second, repeal all gun control except for the NFA 1934 gun control and 1968 gun control. everyone needs to have a background check done before they are allowed to have gun(s) criminals, repeat felons, are not allowed to bear modern firearms.
make the process to bet a class 3 weapons easier. they need to be regulated still, and some things like rocket propelled grenades should continue to be banned as they are too dangerous.
people have to right to carry, I will take on the more pro-gun state's methods- a shall-issue law if a citizen requests it the elected official must give the permit.
people have the right to self defense- everyone has the castle law in their own homes.
change the class 3 weapons list: only machine guns, destructive devices need to be regulated. anyone can get a legally owned firearms SBS or SBR, or even a suppressor if they wish and fill out some quick paperwork (simply to state that is what they are doing) without the lengthy paperwork that we have today.
waiting periods are illegal, there will be no stupid waiting periods.
local law and state law may not enact any more kind of gun control.
there are no such things as "assault weapons" or "evil" guns.
the only gun control there will be would be ones that apply to the taking of game with a firearm. as I'm not a hunter I do not know the regulations so I cannot comment in this area.
drop the ages to keep and bear arms- 12 for airsoft/paintball, 14 for airguns, 16 for long guns and 18 for pistols. no regulations of "pistol" or "rifle" ammunition sales. ammo is ammo, what could a kid do with a bunch of ammo for that he doesn't have a gun for anyway? 18 for any kind of NFA-regulated item.
toss out the 922r compliance act. its dumb as hell.
toss the 1986 MG ban. that's also retarded.
no registration of firearms, a citizen may elect to do so at their own will for protection (say if the gun was stolen or lost), but it is not required. an FFL is required for all transfers so that criminals that are banned form owning modern firearms do not easily get guns this way.
I do not believe people need to get their background checked every time be buy a new gun. it should be once a year or less, and connected to their DL or similar ID card, simply swipe the card and see if anything comes up that prohibits firearms ownership. if not, the person is allowed to continue to bear arms. so basically one check per lifetime or decade. the person's record is amended to court records, yes? so if the ID is linked to a digital database, then if the person did something to change their eligibility to keep and bear arms then it will show up very quickly as a change. everything else stays the same. so if there are no red flags then per person has passed the "test". it is not a re-check of the record, merely a quick glance. and that definitely shouldn't cost anything or take a while. Then the dealer simple records what is sold if the new buyer wishes to have it recorded with their name. if not, it'll just be a list of guns sold to the people for a certain area. it will not have people's names on it.

"I personally think that any adult with no criminal record and a clean bill of mental health should be able to own any type of gun."
The problem is than mental health is always changing. Someone who is sane and content when they buy a gun will be totally different if he or she goes through a divorce, has lost their job, has other person problems.

For years the debate has been over the question of whether the 2nd amendment guaranteed an individual right to bear arms, or only members of a state militia. Well, the SCOTUS settled that question by holding the 2nd as a guarantee of an individual right to keep and bear arms.
That issue having been decided, the balance of the 2nd, "shall not be infringed", seems pretty d@mned straight forward!

To me its a matter of what is recreational or not. Let me expound.
I can shoot a bolt action rifle, but its not as much of a thrill as shooting a semi auto, which isn't as much fun as shooting a fully automatic weapon.
Now I can shoot fully automatic rifle, which is the same thrill as shooting a fully automatic rifle with armor piercing rounds. I see no gain in using ammunition which is only useful in killing people in body armor.
To me any weapon that has a deadly feature beyond recreational means (such as armor piercing rounds) should be banned.
I am all for gun rights, as I have a closet full of them 7 feet from where I sit, and it makes me glad to see so many guns rights people on here, but some things i just see no value in having.

Second Amendment of the United States Constitution –
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
That says it all!

I think only those with convictions of violent crime, kids and those who are institutionalized or have guardians for lack of capacity should be precluded. I don't think the govt should have a license to make everyone get mental tests in order to get a gun, or even have access to people's records to go through anything else.

Anything that limits the right to own a firearm is a violation of 2nd amendment rights.
dealing with criminals is not dealt with by making 2,000 guns laws and not enforcing them.

Look at it this way: If government bans guns, the implicit quid pro quo is that government will always be there to protect you. Think it can live up to that promise?

Only time you should have a gun is when you hunt. You pick up your gun at a gun pick up place before you go to hunt. or Your a police officer. No guns should be allowed at anyones house and if you scared of intruders just use a bat.
