Why does my cat hang out in the attic?
Why does my cat hang out in the attic above the garage? It can get to be 80°F outside. It gets much hotter in the attic. there are stairs that lead up there, so she can go up and down as she pleases. Should i block off the stair to keep her down? Do you think she might be up there to going after a bird or small animal? Why do you think she likes going up there? She is up in the attic alot. I just don't want her to get heat stroke.
She is an older cat named Tri-Pod. She only has 3 legs. She was a stray that came to us 10 years ago. We don't know how she lost her leg. She came to us like that. She is fixed. Maybe our house is a bit hectic. We have 3 dogs inside. But she is always aloud in the house where she can go upstairs where the dogs are not aloud.

If she likes it up there let her be. If she gets to hot she will come down.

I think she might go up there to get Sleep, if the cat was too Hot she wouldn't be up there
I highly doubt she's going up to catch a bird or squirrel
Just let her Be if I were you

Observe her.if she stations her self in one place...looking at certain spot...she knows something is there...or she could just like the location...my cat loves our cellar...can't keep her out of it...she just finds place to sit there...years ago we did have a field mouse in there but she caught it

has you cat been fixed? maybe she (if a girl) is pregnant and is going up there to prepare for her birth? maybe there is a male cat up there she is seeking. or if male maybe a female is up there.
how old is your cat? if it is younger - maybe it is just curious, and likes to explore.
is your household hectic? frightened or skitish cats like to go to quiet places to hide from loud environments.
what condition in condition is your actic in? maybe there are mice up there she/he is chasing and having a blast with.
just a few possibilities.
