Indeed you are right. Religion feeds off people's fears and trepidation. They cultivate the Stockholm Syndrome within their own community. I have no problem with people having a set of beliefs and principles, but organized religion I can do without. Fear-mongering is a very lucrative business. That's why bibles aren't free. I believe it was L. Ron Hubbard who stated that the fastest way to get rich without paying any taxes is to start your new religion. Personally, I think the government should charge all churches and private universities property taxes.

I agree with you. I'm a Jehovah's Witness and have placed plenty of literature free to ones who are really interested.

All our publications are paid for via donations made by the Witnesses.

I went to a second hand store the other day and saw the prices they were selling old Bibles at and was just amazed. Even some of the Christian bookshops are a little over the top with their prices on a basic pocket Bible.

Jesus threw sellers out of the temple, kind of makes you wonder way he would like to say to those doing the selling today...

Many Bibles are free. One thing you probably don't know though is that the majority (if not all) those who own the publishing rights to the Bible use every penny to fund their operations and charities and are not-for-profit organizations. Most genuine churches utilize the funds donated in various charities and other ministries...any good church has complete transparency in financial matters, so feel free to check on this if you think it's not factual.

"Religion" can be a millionaires club, but that is not synonomous with "Christianity", and in fact Jesus despised religions of His day (still does) and looks at the heart of a man rather than the works.

not all bibles are free because some are a special type of bible. For example some are used for bible study. These type of bibles are more expensive to produce and it also takes longer.

some bibles are free. I have gotten free bibles before.

They aren't fancy but it's the word of God.

They're not free because, believe it or not, it actually requires money to manufacture and distribute them. Even the ones given free of charge were payed for by someone, somewhere along the line.

Jehovah witnesses give bible for free...also do not request tithing and show to the people where in the bible it says tithing was removed

Printing and such costs money. Beggars can't be choosers, you know. No one forces you to buy an expensive one.

Go to a church, and you will be given one.

Listen to Charles Stanley on radio or TV. He's good.
