Alfred Hitchcock fans! What are the essential Hitchcock movies to watch?
I have only seen parts of Psycho and I really want to see some of Alfred Hitchcock's greatest films to begin with as I have heard great things about his movies. So this is like a starter kit per se for Hitchcock films. So what are the first few movies of his that I should start with? Thanks:D

Honestly, you can NOT go wrong with an Alfred Hitchcock movie.
I think for me, the quintessential Hitchcock movie is REBECCA. It drags out a little bit at the end, but its easily my favourite one, and the only one that won Best Picture.
North By Northwest is one of the most entertaining films EVER made, and is not only an essential Hitchcock film, its an essential movie to see period.
Strangers on a Train is entertaining as all hell, and is one of the greatest stories of obsession that you will ever see.
The Birds is also one of my favourites. It starts out like a romantic comedy and slowly becomes an out-right terrifying tale of man vs nature. The beginning bits move a little slower than the rest of the movie, but once it gets going - boy does it ever get going.
Rear Window is just perfection. And a must see in every sense. Same goes with Vertigo, which is just a masterpiece.
Clearly I love Alfred Hitchcock. If theres one I would say you didnt have to see it would be Suspicion. Its good, but not his best.

Start with this movie collection, it has all the main items.
The Essential Alfred Hitchcock Collection:
Champagne, Murder!, Number Seventeen, 39 Steps, The Skin Game, and four others.

My favorite Hitchcock films are "Dial M for Murder" and "Vertigo" out of the 8 Hitchcock films I have seen. So I definitely suggest you start with those.
I still have my fair share of Hitchcock films to see. I really want to see North by Northwest, To Catch a Thief, Strangers on a Train, Rope and Notorious.
I agree with Justin. Rebecca was a great film but it does drag on....

Rear Window and Vertigo are my favorites (I'm a Jimmy Stewart fan :) ) And The Birds isn't really scary but eerie and definitely a classic and of course Psycho.

well psycho is the second best so you should start with that then you need to see "rear window" its my FAVORITE movie ever im not kidding. some other great ones are "the birds" (some say its outdated but it still gives me the chills), "north by northwest" is really good but its not one of the scary ones its more of a thriller. i think "vertigo" is awesome but other people disagree. those are the essentials in my book!
