Sometimes. Some people know they are not acting or thinking rationally, but don't care. Some even use it to manipulate others.

I've had the problem. What happens is physical. You feel odd in a very uncomfortable way, you feel very anxious, to the extent that you are afraid of dying. It's difficult to describe, but not thinking rationally is the least of your problems. We take for granted the way we feel, because we are so used to it. This is something different. Thank God for medicines. Without them about a quarter of those afflicted used to die from heart and circulation problems. Not sure what the circulation problems were.

It can be funny, but only because you don't feel what they are feeling. It's anything but funny.

I think it depends on how crazy you are.
