How can I go on without my beloved cat?

He was a real person, never thought or acted like a cat. At 7 he refused to eat and now he's gone from us. I hate waking up, going to bed, being home, being awake. I miss him SO much. How can my heart stop hurting so much?

For Taurus, Xx.ZoE.xX, Taiylor and any other bits and pieces of primordial excrement who thought it necessary to chime in w/ their heartless, meaningless blather- you should be so lucky as to know such depths of pain--- considering the direct correlation to ones experience with love.

Simplified, for those whose I.Q. is as unevolved as their E.Q., the unconditional love exchanged between the poster and their beloved companion transcends any emotion you will ever know, or ever even begin to fathom, for anyone or anything.

I am so sorry for your loss, M&M. Losing a pet is no less painful than losing a family member... or your closest, dearest friend. Old spice recommended it first but try petloss.com if you haven't yet.

Tears come to my eyes as I read this. I understand - more than I want to. I, too, have lost furbabies over the many years of my life. Nothing is ever quite the same, but we eventually find ways to go on.

Some will advise you to get another cat real soon. I believe you should wait until you are really ready. Only you can know when that is.

In the meantime, please go to: www.petloss.com.

I cannot begin to tell you how much help you will find there. Be sure to go to the chat room and the Candle Ceremony.

Please email me if you need more info.

    Take care; be well.

I Lost my Dear Siamese yesterday, he was put to sleep and we lost him within a week of him first looking unwell. He died from FIP, a dreadfull incurable disease. I too feel like you. Cats and other animals are not just a pet they are part of our family. We hurt just as much from the death of a pet as that of any other member of our family, and any person who cannot understand that has never loved an animal. I also lost a cat on new years eve last year, he was also put to sleep. I know exactly how you feel today, i feel the same, but your pain will become less with each passing day, i know this because ive lived through it, and now i am living through it again.

Do things that help make your dear friend seem near, put his photos out, Cry. And just remember how much you loved your friend.

You are grieving, and feeling as you do is normal, its grief.

Be strong and take each day as it comes.

I really feel for you, i know how your feeling. Lynn

Well, you are in mourning and you will hurt for awhile. No way around it. Try to remember that your kitty was loved and it had a good life with a caring owner. Eventually, you will be able to get through a day without tears, and maybe can rescue a poor kitty from a shelter. This could be in honor of the kitty that just passed.

Mourning, whether for a person or a beloved pet is a real process and not to be taken lightly. If you find yourself rendered completely non-functional you may need to seek medical help, but sorrow is a normal part of the human condition.

Eventually you will adapt, but the immediate present will be rough. Good luck.

Its always hard to loose a beloved pet,you are grieving for him which is normal. Try thinking about all the good times you had with him, and know that you gave him a good home.

This might help, but it will take time.
