Morning Sickness remedies?

I'm about 9 weeks pregnant and am feeling sick virtually all the time, morning, noon and night. Has anyone got any remedies that work to try to stop this constant nausea? I've been told ginger tea and ginger nuts but no luck there, in fact the ginger tea is making me gag just smelling it. (Lovely I know!)

Update:

Thanks Mr Awesome you are such a worthy human being... not

i got bad norning sickness when i first found out i was pregnant and i was told ginger biscuits helped, and they didnt do alot for me either, but as its difficult to eat whilst feeling ill, as the smell of everything else makes you feel worse, so it would be worth finding some sort of biscuit or dry food that you could constantly nibble on throughout the day as eating little but often eased it a bit for me! i used to eat plain digestives and also mini cheddars! i wouldnt say it stopped it completely! but it helped, atleast you no this feeling will not last long i am due in 9 days now and havnt had any nausea really since the beginning, should def be gone by 12 weeks! good luck! also drink lots of water! that helps everything!

I had the same problem. I found that the Materna, or prenatal vitamins made me nauseous ( The calcium and iron together i think caused this) so I took them right before I went to bed. If you can't remember to do that though, take it in the morning with an orange or orange juice to help better absorb all minerals and vitamins.

Another thing, keep crackers or plain salted chips by your bed, and eat a few before getting up. The salt acts as a neutralizer of stomach acid. Avoid getting hungry, because it just worsens morning sickness. Keep small snacks on you (like Nature Valley) and munch on those, rather than having 3 big separate meals. (It also speeds up your metabolism! :) )

I also had peppermint candies, and peppermint tea that worked really well. A

And just taking deep breaths in and out and slowing your pace a bit when your feeling nauseous works great too.

I'd also just ask a doc to make sure b/c I found out later after a miscarriage that my body had created a antibody to the baby because we had different blood types... So maybe get a blood test for that too

    Hope that helps!

I am six weeks along and miserable from morning sickness. I've just been doing a lot of trial and error. Nilla Wafers worked for me for a few days, now they make me sick. Today, Triscuits are working pretty well. Also, dry sweet cereal like Captain Crunch. I have to nibble on something all day to keep the nausea at bay. Plain water helps me, too, especially with a slice of lemon or lime.

Take a unisom and B6 at night. It really helps keep morning sickness away.

Also, if you never let yourself get hungry, you won't have morning sickness problems. I would often wake up in the middle of the night to eat a snack and it really helped.

Lemon also seems to help with MS. I would buy lemon flavored vitamin water and just smell it when I felt nauseated. The smell was very calming.

  • It took me a while but I eventually learned that my morning sickness (all day sickness lol) was worse when my stomach was empty. It would suck, I would get sick on an empty stomach and then you don't feel like eating so your stomach stays empty and you stay sick...Anyway my advice is to keep something in your stomach all the time. Eat as soon as you get outta bed, something light preferably. and don't let yourself get hungry. If you are already sick just try eating some saltines and ginger ale. Saltines did wonders for me

Before you go to bed fill a flask with boiled water (hot) in your fave' cup/mug put 1/4 lemon with skin on into the cup. Put this by your bed. Before you get out of bed in the morning put the hot water onto the lemon and drink it. As hot as possible. Wait 5 minuets and then get up....worth a try did for me.

Take a teaspoon each of fresh mint juice, lemon juice, and a tablespoon of honey thrice daily. Half a teaspoon of cumin seed powder mixed with a teaspoon of honey before food helps to fight nausea. More instant remedies and info at

My doctor told me to eat often but little.

Suck or eat something sweet before getting up in the morning etc.

    Unfortunatly Nothing worked for me.

You could ask your doctor for sickness tabs.

Mine worked for a little while xx

The only thing that helped me was the travel sickness bands that you wear on your wrist. They cost about £8 from a chemist and work straight away, and no side effects! Give them a try.
