Yes, tell your parents. A 15 year old cat is 76 in "human" years, so he's getting "up there". He needs to see the vet for an exam, to see if he's developing an illness.
It could be that he's been constipated for a couple of days, and his stool got so hard that it made him bleed while pooping. But, the vet would be the one to say IF that's his only problem, or if he needs some other kind of treatment.
Your cat deserves the best medical treatment that he can get. He's been a good friend / companion for many years, and should be treated accordingly.
Hope this helps, and he doesn't have anything TOO serious...Good luck.

Yes tell your parents for your cats sake as he will need a check up, but don't panic it could be something as simple as an anal tear that wont heal caused by him being constipated as many older cats are,
but of course only a vet can determine whats wrong so tell your parents it may be scary but ignoring it would be more scary, as you would know he isn't well and will just worry and he will get worse,
he needs to be examined and at 15 he will need a thorough check up.

Older cats can have some problems with constipation. Straining might cause some blood to appear with a movement. Certainly mention it to your parents and encourage them to have the vet do a check on the cat. There may be something the cat can take to make bowel movements easier.
Don't panic.

Yes, tell your parents. Especially at his age, if he hasn't had a physical and checkup in a while, it's a good idea. A lot of things can start to go wrong in old cats, so best to catch things as early as you can to have the best chance of treating them successfully :)

You should mention it to your parents, they may have seen something similar before.
If you haven't thrown away the poo, you should take good pictures of it.
For medical help, all the information you can gather is best.
You should definately take your cat to the vet.
It may be:
-difficulty and stress digesting food.
-intestinal parasites
Medicine and/or soft food may be the answer, but you'll definately need to visit your veterinarian.
With good attention to health and love, a housecat can easily live past 17 years old.

I am so sorry to say this but your kitty might have stomech cancer. i had a kitty who started having runny poo and blood and it turns out that is what he has. Your kitty is rather old so it is very possible that he has cancer. What i would do is ask your parents to take him to the vet so that you guys can ask about the cancer, and waht you guys can do. Also has he lost lots of weight? is he not as active as he used to be? that could also be signs of stomech cancer. I hope this helps. :D

Its important that you get him checked from a vet, whilst blood in the stools might not always point to a major problem, Its better to get it checked out due to his age.
