Does my weightloss plan sound ok or does it need some tweaking? Personal Trainers?

I am a 5'10'' 225lb female looking to lose about 40 lbs within a year.

I just started back to the gym and eating better.

I go to the gym at 5:30am everyday during the week and around 9am on Saturday. Sundays are usually a rest day, but I do sometimes go to the gym on Sundays.

At the gym I always do 30 minutes on the elliptical or crosstrainer and my heart rate is right in the middle of the fat burn level and cardio level.

Then I stretch for 5 minutes and do about 100 crunches.

Next I do 20 minutes of light weights with high reps alternating each muscle group each day (arms, legs, and then shoulders/chest).

I do a small amount of ab workouts everyday.

For my food plan, I joined caloriecounter and record everything I eat. The website says to eat about 1700 calories a day which I usually achieve or go right under. I am eating more protein and carbs but staying away from sugar.

I also started drinking at least 64oz of water a day and taking a multivitamin everyday.

What do you think of my plan? Does anything need to be changed or added?

How long do you think it will take to lose the 40lbs?

Thanks ahead of time.

Low weights high reps is a waste of time.

Increase the weights, lower the reps. Preferably 5-8 reps, 10 at most, with as much weight as you can do for 3 sets.

Don't let any moron tell you that you'll get "big" from doing this. You won't. Unless you're a man or on steroids. This whole "women will get huge and hulky from weightlifting" was made up by people who want to keep women weak and pathetic.

Let him know a least a week before you want him to stop coming. Generally, it would be 2-4 weeks but because you only have a month left on your contract, it would be pointless. It's kind to give him notice so he can get more clients before losing this income. Just tell him "I am sorry but I do not need a personal trainer any longer. The last day I need you is ___. If you want, we can discuss ending the contract and if I will get a portion of my money back." That is the nicest way you can tell him without offending him.
