what is life like after the second coming?

Look around you. There is your answer. The Second Coming has already occurred (1844) and we are well on the path to world peace. What will life be like in the future? More peaceful by far than it is today. We are at the very dawning of mankind's Golden Age. The reality is that the return of Christ, the Tenth Avatar, the Buddha Maitreya and all the other prophecies about the appearance or return of a Great Messenger from God and the Time of the End (of the Age) all refer to the same great event, the same individual. That individual was Baha'u'llah (1817-1892) who is the Prophet/founder of the world's second-most widespread religion, the Baha'i Faith. Just as the Jews are still expecting the fulfillment of prophecies that were actually fulfilled by Jesus, I expect two thousand years from now you will find a handful of Christians enjoying peace yet loudly proclaiming, "Better get right with God! Christ will be here any time now!" And yet the signs are there, the proof readily available that the return has, indeed, already occurred.

There can be no doubt whatever that the peoples of the world, of whatever race or religion, derive their inspiration from one heavenly Source, and are the subjects of one God. Baha'u'llah represents all these, and thus destroys the rivalries and the enmities of the different religions; reconciles them in their primitive purity, and frees them from the corruption of dogmas and rites.

Writing of religion as a social force, Bahá'u'lláh said: "Religion is the greatest of all means for the establishment of order in the world and for the peaceful contentment of all that dwell therein." Referring to the eclipse or corruption of religion, he wrote: "Should the lamp of religion be obscured, chaos and confusion will ensue, and the lights of fairness, of justice, of tranquillity and peace cease to shine." In an enumeration of such consequences the Bahá'í writings point out that the "perversion of human nature, the degradation of human conduct, the corruption and dissolution of human institutions, reveal themselves, under such circumstances, in their worst and most revolting aspects. Human character is debased, confidence is shaken, the nerves of discipline are relaxed, the voice of human conscience is stilled, the sense of decency and shame is obscured, conceptions of duty, of solidarity, of reciprocity and loyalty are distorted, and the very feeling of peacefulness, of joy and of hope is gradually extinguished."
