Getting a male cat fixed?

I have a male cat that I think needs to be fixed. He was a feral cat and I got him when he was about 6 weeks old. He's now almost a year old and I'm having trouble keeping him in the house, and he sometimes leaves for 24 hours at a time. He's a great cat and is very friendly. Was wondering if anyone knows of a good place to have him fixed in the San Francisco bay area and about how much it will cost. Also after he's fixed will it effect his personality? Or is it possible for him to be mad at his owner for doing so? Thank you for the assistance and any information you can provide.

If he seems "mad", it's only because he's probably in a little bit of pain from the operation and might be sore there for a few days. The vet should give you some pain medicine to use and that will help. My Tiger was a feral kitten I rescued and he has the same personality he had before I got him neutered. It's definitely the right thing to do for his own safety though. He will roam less and be less in danger of traffic, etc. He will also be less likely to follow a female in heat away from you and then not be able to find his way back.

a private vet ought to value upwards of $one hundred fifty to do it, reckoning on the place you reside. touch a no-kill guard or your community SPCA and spot in the event that they have a low value medical institution that can do it. North Shore Animal League in long island used to have a application that value $40 to have a cat spayed or neutered. that's something which you're able to desire to have executed, for the risk-free practices and properly-being of your cat. you're waiting to artwork out a charge plan with a vet. you will desire to have already got a vet, in case you have a cat. they choose pictures and such, and could be seen as quickly as a year. you're able to desire to additionally no longer enable your cat outdoors - indoor cats are not in threat of be contaminated with the dissimilar ailments that plague cats, and are much less carriers to fleas and mites.

It is said to quieten cats, however I have found the personality stays the same. However it will stop them wanting to get after the nearest queen on heat so it often helps the roaming problem. Try phoning any vets near you and ask their rates.

No he won't be mad at you. He may mope around a little giving him the appearance of being mad but he rly isn't. It will not affect his personality except his desire to hump and spray and it will also keep him from wandering off.
