I overworked my calf muscles to the point where it's difficult to walk...?
...and they're totally sore and have been since yesterday. Yet, when I work my arms, they're not aching the next day at all (I work my arms a lot more than my calves). How can I be sure I'm not overdoing or under-doing any strength training?

Get a massage on your calves and it will feel much better.
It always feels like that if you up the ante or haven't exercised that area for a while. It needs time to break it in so to speak.
