questions for moms of two?

I am 30 weeks pregnant with my second child....my first is nine years old, and i just have a few questions about labor and birth for other moms who have had more than one child.

1. How long was your first labor and how long was your second labor?

2. vaginal births or c-section?

3. How long did you push each time (if vaginal)?

4. If you had a c-section either time, why did you need one?

5. How many weeks were you each time?

6. Did you go into labor on your own, or did you have to be induced?

7. How much did each baby weigh?

8. Was one labor more painful than the other?

9. Did you have stitches with either one? Did you have more tearing with one or the other??

Thank you!! I am just getting nervous about the birth and wanted to hear other mom's experiences!

My first pregnancy I was induced but 12 hours later wasn't making progress and they were worried about my twin girls so I had a c-section. Second pregnancy, we scheduled it in advanced also because he was getting kind of big.

My girls weighed 7 lbs 7.5 oz and 5 lbs 6 oz, and my son weighed 7 lbs 15.5 oz.

My second birth was sooo much better than my first. I knew what to expect, they didn't have to give me emergency meds, I felt much clearer and I wasn't in a ton of pain like the first time. Plus the doctors and nurses were more relaxed because it wasn't emergency surgery.

Overall, I did have some complications but I enjoyed both times. I was served great food, someone else cleaned the bathroom and I got to meet my new little person. I had all my babies at a great hospital, I think that makes a big difference.

    1. How long was your first labor and how long was your second labor?

First was six hours and second was 14hrs 40 Min's but the first was induced with very strong drugs and the second induction was more natural.

Both vaginal but had forceps with the first.

    3. How long did you push each time (if vaginal)?

First not long as baby was distressed so they pulled her out with forceps the second for about 10 minutes.

    6. Did you go into labor on your own, or did you have to be induced?

    I was induced both times.

    7. How much did each baby weigh?

    They weighed 8lb10oz each.

    8. Was one labor more painful than the other?

The first was more painful because I was given very strong drugs to induce labour.

    9. Did you have stitches with either one? Did you have more tearing with one or the other??

With my first I was cut and my second I tore I had stitches with both of them.

Thank you!! I am just getting nervous about the birth and wanted to hear other mom's experiences!

I have two little girls and am 38 weeks with girl #3.

    1. How long was your first labor and how long was your second labor? My first I had no labour whatsoever. I never even felt a contraction and I went 10 days overdue. My second labour was 24hrs and ended in a emergency c-section.

    2. vaginal births or c-section? Both were a c-section.

    3. How long did you push each time (if vaginal)? N/A

    4. If you had a c-section either time, why did you need one? My first c-section I had a primary outbreak of herpes. My second c-section was an emergency and it was because I had failure to progress. I got stuck at 8cm for 6 hours.

    5. How many weeks were you each time? I was 41 weeks and 2 days with my first and 42 weeks 1 day with my second.

    6. Did you go into labor on your own, or did you have to be induced? My first was became a scheduled c-section and my second I wasn't induced chemically but I was helped along.

    7. How much did each baby weigh? #1 was 8lbs 8 oz. #2 was 8lbs 5 oz. Both perfect and healthy!

    8. Was one labor more painful than the other? They were both completely different. My first c-section was by far more painful than my second c-section but my second c-section I also did 24 hours of labour beforehand.

    9. Did you have stitches with either one? Did you have more tearing with one or the other??N/A unless you count the c-section stitches.

An excellent book to read that helped calm all my fears about labour is called " Ina May's Guide To Childbirth" The book is amazing and instead of being afraid of labour it made me EXCITED!! The book can be a little hippyish but is totally worth the read.

    Good luck!

P.S. Once you have a c-section you can be induced with any other c-sections. It just depends on what type of cut they do for the first c-section. If I didn't go into labour they were going to chemically induce me and they have chemically induced a bunch of my friends after their c-sections too.

    1. My first labor was 6 hours (I was dilated 3 cm prior to my water breaking), My second was less then 2 hours (I was dilated 6cm, prior to actual labor)

    2. Vaginal births- No pain meds at all- all natural

    3. My daughter was out in 7 pushes, My son was only 3 pushes.

    4. Never had a c-section.

    5. First pregnancy- I was 37wks 5dys, second pregnancy 38 weeks exactly.

    6. I went into labor on my own- both times.

    7. My first was 6lbs, my second was 7lbs 5oz

    8. I feel like my second labor was more painful, but it was a lot quicker- so it evened itself out. I think it was more painful because the contractions when they first started- were 3 minutes apart, and sped up very quickly.

    9. I had tearing with both, a little more tearing with the second-but he was a little larger then my first, so that was expected.

*** Congrats on the baby on the way!!! Your profile picture of the ultrasound... brings back memories :-) Soooo exciting!

1st went in at 6 pm thursday at 5cm and had her friday at 7pm i was dilated to 10 by 6 am but refused to push till i got epidural and took a nap.

2nd was about 24 hrs of labor went in dilated to 4cm they decided to do c-section when i was still at 4

    one of each

pushed maybe 3 times with first

with 2 i could feel the baby was not sitting right her head was more in to my hip so when i would have a contraction it would not make my cervex dilate any more

exactly 40 both were born on there due dates

they both started on there own number 2 was given patocen to try to dilate me more

    number 1 was 8lbs 3 oz and 2 was 8lbs 7 oz

number 2 was more painful because of the patocen and my epidural would quit working

no stitches at all with vag birth no taring or cut i think that with me taking my time i stretched better

    1st labor was 31hrs - ended in a C

2nd labor was around 9hrs pushed 10 minutes - baby was born

C was required as he got "stuck" in the birth canal - come to find out the cord was wrapped around his neck and was holding him back

    I was 40 weeks 5 days with my first - 41 weeks 5 days with my 2nd - C was scheduled for 42 weeks

First was induced - 2nd I had a sweep - once you have a C they can't medically induce your labor

    First weight 6lbs even - 2nd 6lbs 12oz

First labor was horrific as it was induced - 2nd not so bad
