Misdiagnosis for bipolar... think it is adhd?????!!!?
Hello,
I have not been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD but I believe I have it. It only took me 25 years to realize it!!! I have been twice diagnosed with bipolar once when I was 17 and again last week. Each time I have felt they were wrong. I have no mania or hypomania, just depression. Well my husband blurted out he thinks I have ADD and I looked at him like he had two heads...
Then I went online and looked up the signs and it describes me to a tee! I took an online tested and I scored 114 (it stated 70 or higher was a very high chance of ADHD and I got 114!!)
I am always moving/fidgeting
I need an alarm to remind me of everything
I lose my keys, wallet and everything all the time
I put things in places to remember where I put them and then forget where that place is
I get bored easily
I lose focus in mind conversation and space out on what people are saying
I speak before I speak and say things I regret often
I am very irritable and have strong mood swings
I am always on the go or have to be doing something
I always have a huge list of tasks, start multiple things and never finish one
I procrasinate all the time
I am constantly daydreaming
As a kid I was bored and skipped school all the time
I could go on and on and on
When I was a teenager I took adderall (unprescribed) and it always helped me concentrate, focus and be happy.
It all makes sense to me now
I wanted to reach out to people living with ADD or ADHD, or anyone, and see if this sounds like I could be right?? I see my therapist on Thursday and hope to bring it up then
Thank you all for listening!

I guess my best advice would be to bring it up with your therapist. Also, find a psychiatrist who specializes in ADHD. There's also a possibility that you may have both. Unfortunately there are no definitive tests for ADHD or Bipolar disorder, so it's impossible to know for sure. But if the Adderall helped you, then that's a good indication that ADHD meds will help.

My Daughter was diagnosed 5 years ago with OCD and her Dr. just added ADD.
Not ALL but some of the symptoms you listed she has. Also she is 15.
When it comes to school, it was a big problem with her anxieties because she was always losing her assignments needed for turning into the teachers, escessive tardies in the mornings and inbetween classes, not able to focus (biggie), mood swings especially during menstrual time, moving/fidgeting; pacing around the house. These are just some.
These anxities/depression runs in my family and husband's.
Hey, glad to help.
It depends on each different Dr. but my daughter sees a Psychiatrist every 2 months and either adjusts her meds. or removes one. These have helped her greatly too and some of the problems she had don't exist anymore but I hope some day soon she can quit these meds for good.

ADHD is a made up disorder so that the pharmaceutical companies could make money. It's all in your head. Think back to like the 1980s and before that. People actually dealt with their problems and didn't turn to some stupid form of medicine.
