Transmission "Glitch" on a 2005 Dodge Dakota?
Transmission doesn't start out in drive when the truck is cold. Works fine otherwise and fine when it's warmed up a few seconds. I just changed the fluid and filter; it's an automatic tranny. It doesn't "kick" into drive right away when it's just been started cold.

the rubber lip seals in the transmission are getting hard what's happening is the warm up the fluid is warming up lip seals the lip seals are on the pistons in the drums which apply the frictions some will say to use a additive but if you do run it for a week and redo the trans change again in the business i see what the additives can do if left in for awhile extends the rubber so much will stop the pistons from applying the pistons also it starts eating the glue that hold the friction material to the steels so start saving for a rebuild only way to fix problem chrysler had a problem with the forward drum did not make rubber lip seal big enough for the drum so when it gets miles on it this is what happens the new kits we get have the bigger diameter lip seal in it
