Are you allowed to pray after you die?

Or do you just have a direct conversation? Maybe you pray to the living? God's certainly not a tangible entity so would you converse with angels, spirit guides? Would it be telepathically? Or would it be unnecessary because all things would be known? I want to know your thoughts on these issues. I don't believe there are any right or wrong answers, so have fun. I'll probably let it go to voting because I don't really want to judge the answers.

You are in no position to assert:~ "God's certainly not a tangible entity". . .

Stick within your own knowledge, and say He is not tangible to YOU.

Otherwise you're just being another self-appointed "expert" without qualifications.

After one dies, they "sleep" in death until one of 2 things happens:~

    1) They are resurrected to join the living Christians & live eternally with Jesus

(Then there is no need to 'pray' as they are in fellowship with Him)

    2) They are resurrected to face Him at their final Judgment

    (no more praying)

The only opportunity to determine which group is during this life.

You certainly are trying hard to live up to your ID. When a saved person dies their soul goes immediately into Heaven, making prayer a matter of direct communication, face-to-face. When an unsaved person dies they go into the grave, body and soul, never to have conscious existence again. Prayer for them is therefore impossible, as is every other function of life.

  • Hey, if there is some consciousness after the physical body had died, go right ahead and try. I'm pretty sure that after you die, you won't be able to pray.

No, the Catholics believe this, and it's heretical to pray to dead people. It says very plainly in Luke 20:38. It doesn't get much clearer than that.

We pray for the living, saints pray to other saints, friends pray for other friends. But when someone dies, we pray to God or God through Christ. When my family passes away I'm not gonna start praying to them to ask them to pray for me. It's a nonbiblical concept, and my faith is in God through Christ. Not dead spirits.

I'd like to believe that all things will be known, that everything out in the open, people will tolerate, and even though EVERYONE thinks up f*cked stuff from time to time, people would know that it's human to do so.

IF there is a heaven, I'm eager to find out.

""Are you allowed to pray after you die?""

That's like asking if you're allowed to drive after you fall asleep.
