If I quit caffeine will I eventually feel as good without it as I currently do with it?
A long time ago, I could drink coffee and have more energy. Now I drink coffee so I can function. I'm physically dependent on it. I'm on about 12 cups of coffee a day now, it takes 6 cups just to prevent a terrible headache. I know it's bad for me, but if I go off the stuff will I feel like I have energy again eventually or will I have to adjust to having less energy? I don't remember how much energy I had before I started drinking coffee every day, I was 16 then and now I'm 27. I know I won't have as much energy as I did at 16.

If you are doing the right things to have proper energy. i.e. getting enough sleep, eating a proper diet, etc. junk food can have an effect on your energy. just things like that. if you do those things to ensure you get enough energy, you should really be just as energetic. coffee is still fine in moderation for you, though. in fact it has many benefits. just make sure to take it slow as you adjust your caffeine consumption.
Source(s): used to drink about a pot a coffee a day and have worked myself down. i can go without for as long as i want but i still enjoy a cup every day or so. :) i have plenty, if not more, energy becuase of other diet changes. - Anonymous1 decade ago
Oh you will feel so much better! You will go through bad withdrawals for the first couple weeks(headaches etc..) But after they have gone you will feel so good..My mum gave up caffeine and she is so much better now. Giving up caffeine even got rid of her anxiety. She has alot more energy now, she says she feels like a new person. It will be hard to give it up but you can do it! Dont give into the cravings, they will slowly go away. My mum doesn't even crave caffeine anymore and it's only been a few months. At first she did, but she got over it. Goodluck to you! :-)
Source(s): And if you don't already, start drinking alot of water, you will see the benefits. Or I should say, "feel" the benefits.
