Why do christians want to "save" the rest of us? Why not let us continue along without "Gods help"?

When you see those who say: "i love you and i want to save you", why does it matter to you when you know that we are set in our ways?

I think they are competing for their god's love. Like, whoever converts the most atheists wins a seat in heaven in the FRONT ROW!!! Something like that. I think that they think they are increasing their own chances of getting into heaven by trying to get others to sign up.

And the other reason is this: The teachings of that church are so incredibly unbelievable, illogical and unreasonable that they must, on some level, be aware of it. They must realize that their beliefs are pretty unbelievable, and so they want to recruit more people because they feel that the more people there are who DO believe in it, the more likely it is to ACTUALLY be TRUE.

It is not true,no matter how many members the church claims it has, no matter how many sheep sign up. The trend has been quite the reverse though, with people leaving the church in droves.

    Great question!

If I had to go through life believing that the majority of mankind was going to burn alive for eternity, I guess I would be trying to "save" everybody too. In fact, I'd probably wind up in a mental institution if I honestly thought such a thing. I would be begging and pleading "unsaved" family members and trying to go to Africa to save all those people who haven't even seen a Bible or heard of Jesus, but are still apparently going to burn even though they couldn't help it. I mean, really. Just THINK about it. Billions of human beings burning alive forever. I think many Christians don't even stop to REALLY think about this, but the ones that do are the ones frantically trying to "save" people.. I personally never could see how this was a rational thing for a God to do, and I could never go through life believing that, but I guess I just have a little too much compassion towards others.

The Christian who wants to "save" you hasn't studied his religion. The informed believer understands that no person can save another. And I'm glad I'm not charged with that responsibility. Nevertheless, we do have an obligation to spread the Gospel of Christ to anyone who wants to hear.

Yeah I've heard this before: "i love you and i want to save you".

Okay short, sweet answer to your question.

They can't save you! They are not God! They are not Jesus, Buddha, Allah or Mother Mary. They are people and people are not God.

So let's get that part straight. Now if they believe they can "save" you, then they are suffering from the God delusion.

When I say to the wicked, You shall surely die; and you do not give him warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked one shall die in his iniquity; but I will require his blood at your hand. Yet if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul. And when the righteous turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and when I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die. Because you have not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand. But if you warn the righteous so that the righteous does not sin, and if he does not sin, he shall surely live because he is warned; also you have delivered your soul.

    (Ezekiel 3:18-21)

And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles. (Acts 18:5-6)

They are obsessed with making converts. It reinforces their worldview, and when you think about some of the things they believe, it does need reinforcement. But sometimes I think making a convert is even better for them than an orgasm.

Since we know the truth and if we don't preach and help other with the bible than we could be responsible for the loss of people in the day of God when he destroys the righteous.. and also not letting people know about God caring for us and his promise he gave us... For example if we know there is tornado coming and we don't tell or alarm others than we would be guilty and responsible for not warning the people, Ezequiel 3:17 says Son of man, a watchman is what I have made you to the house of Israel, and you must hear from my mouth speech and you must warn them from me. 18 When I say to someone wicked, ‘You will positively die,’ and you do not actually warn him and speak in order to warn the wicked one from his wicked way to preserve him alive, he being wicked, in his error he will die, but his blood I shall ask back from your own hand. 19 But as for you, in case you have warned someone wicked and he does not actually turn back from his wickedness and from his wicked way, he himself for his error will die; but as for you, you will have delivered your own soul. 20 And when someone righteous turns back from his righteousness and actually does injustice and I must put a stumbling block before him, he himself will die because you did not warn him. For his sin he will die, and his righteous acts that he did will not be remembered, but his blood I shall ask back from your own hand. 21 And as for you, in case you have warned someone righteous that the righteous one should not sin, and he himself does not actually sin, he will without fail keep on living because he had been warned, and you yourself will have delivered your own

Because we love the Lord, and we know that He loves you.

He seems to think that you are worth dying for.

1/2 love for their fellow man, 1/2 self-serving hubris

Christians are here in R&S sharing the truth of Christ.

Ask a question and they are here to help.

I'm still not sure why those who are not interested in the truth are here.
