Capture alive and stage a mock burial. OBL can be interrogated to give up the locations and identities of other terrorists and the Pakistani officials that sheltered him. If the burial is less than definitive, OBL's associates will worry about what he might say whether he is in fact alive or dead. After the next raid killing one of OBL's followers, leak information that the intelligence for the raid came from OBL.

I don't know which is better personally. But either way people will complain.

If he was kept alive I can guarantee you that some of the Cons will complain that he is being held in prison "at taxpayers' expense" - no doubt Fox news will conjure up pictures of a prison room resplendent with a TV, swimming pool and Playstation etc to garner outrage and comments that Obama is really on his side (because of course he's a muslim), and the "poor American taxpayer is paying for all this".

The more gun-loving Cons/teabaggers/birthers etc would no doubt say that Obama should have killed him, because after all, that's what a "Real American" would do. Unlike the "lily-livered wet liberals". Also if he was kept alive no doubt they'd say Obama wants to keep him alive because he's a "fellow muslim" or some stupid thing like that.

Either way Obama can't win with these people. But one thing I'll say is, if it was Bush I bet he would have also killed him - IN A HEARTBEAT - if only he'd been clever enough to get as close.

If he was kept alive for trial, it sets up a perfect scenario somewhere where Al Qaeda could simply take everyone in an elementary school or theater hostage, and demand a trade for Osama. They would gleefully begin executing hostages until their demands were met, or a rescue mission was called for that would likely kill almost everyone involved. That's what the Chechnyan terrorists did.

With Obama dead and gone, that takes away that whole possibility.

Yes, what will they do with him when he is dead? I think that they captured him and told everyone he is dead so no one would bother them. They would need all his information on the Taliban and alquida.

I know this sounds harsh but since it has been 10 years since 9/11 they should have killed him slowly over a period of 10 years.

Yes. Everything just seemed to happen too fast for me. America's Top Most Wanted Man and he's gone already?

I think he should have been captured alive.

He could be dead or alive, if alive he will be interrogated for Al Qaeda/Taliban information and afterwards disposed at sea!
