Why did old poor people choose to be old poor people?
With the unlimited upward social mobility in America, the 'Land of Opportunity' we see so many people that have decided to be old poor people. Isn't that the most ridiculous choice ever? Just by watching TV we see we can be doctors, lawyers, metrosexuals, advertisement models... yet these people thought it would be wise to be old and poor. And they want to be paid for it...
I've got an idea... choose to be a young rich person! Well, it might be too late to be young but you know what I mean...
@Curtis 1911: You got that right. They should have voted Republican so they could still be working for minimum wage, like most of the 'middle class'. Medicaid and Medicare and Social Security are just more liberal scams. Young people are the only ones smart enough to understand that.
@strata: don't you see the point I'm making? When a system fails it's the fault of the helpless. What the US needs is a good 'ol fashioned caste system. Then people wouldn't have to whine, they'd know their place.
@whoyeah: you don't believe poor old people need to be taken off their high horse? It's got to make sense that the more we take away from them the more the country will prosper. There are missles to build, wells to drill. These people made an effort to be a burden and must be stopped, why do they stand in the way of progress?

I'm positive that the only place where you get to CHOOSE who you are is in some fantasy world where you get to pick things without consequences or risk of failure. Apparently it takes an old person to understand that.
Caste system? Really? Remember the French Revolution that ended the caste system? That was the first step towards the making of our government.

Life throws curve balls that can't be hit at folks sometimes, circumstances arise a body can't do anything about. Getting old is an accomplishment in itself, being poor isn't always a choice.

Old poor people choose to be old poor people, because they choose to vote for democrats, and let the government take care of them.
