kitten destroying blinds?
My 3 month old kitten is destroying ( actually destroyed one this morning and I had to throw it away) horizontal blinds . I have to cover the windows because my bed is right by the window and you can see in the apartment from the street ( 1st floor) was thinking of room darkening drapes. that way he can still get on the window seel. Any ideas?

Go to the hardware store and get some of the "darkening FILM" that applies TO the window. During the day, nobody can see in ( you can see out ).......at night, you can see out ( when lights are off ), but people can still see in ( lights on ), so also get another blind ( or window shade ) and cover the window in the evening, when you have the lights on & can "monitor" your kitten. Pull it up after you turn off your lights & go to bed, so the kitten can't reach it .........
This two-way solution seems the best way to me............Hope it helps....Good luck.......
BTW: Be sure to keep the cords fastened way up, so the kitten can't get strangled by them......

The drapes might be a good idea but he might climb on them, too. Kittens just have so much energy and they want to play. The blinds are so fun to climb and they make all that noise is what your kitten is thinking. You can train your kitten with a squirt bottle of water. When your kitten starts doing something you don't want him to do, say No! and give a squirt. Hopefully he will listen and learn the word no. It takes time.
