Why do Christians assume its up to the government to uphold their faith?

Yes, abortion and gay marriage should be legal. Everything should be up to the people to decide, why do Christians get pissed off about that?

Update:

Christian values are not the basis of our government...lmfao. And I'm talking about individual right to choice. After all, doesn't God grant all of us that for every sin?

Homeland Security is having to put more and more time and resources into tracking christians who seek to tear up the constitution, destroy democracy and foment a second civil war to install a christian dictatorship!

A chilling warning was issued to US police forces last year about the threat of a rise in violent right wing and christian extremist groups fueled by recession and hostility over the election of the first black president!

In March last year federal agents arrested and charged nine members of a Christian militia based in Michigan, calling itself the Hutaree with plotting to murder local police. The FBI has also made arrests in Seattle and San Francisco.

Seems these people are not just a bigger threat to American freedoms than external terrorists but completely anti American!

One, quit profiling. "Christians" don't do this, people who have a set strong belief do. Not everyone who disagrees with either of those things is Christian.

America was founded on Christian belief, whether anyone who's not Christian likes to admit this or not. The pledge of allegiance states this pretty clearly. Based on interpretations from the Bible those two things "seem" to go against it. I (am Christian) personally do not believe that there is anything wrong with Gay marriage.

If any part of of evolution and survival of the fittest was true why the hell would men be attracted to men, how does that support our survival at all? How does a conscious even? People commit suicide over conscious decisions every day. If evolution is for the best why are we the only species that not only has a conscious but can purposely destroy our own existence?

Anyways ... not all Christians disagree with those two things, especially gay marriage. Abortion is a moral issue, not necessarily a religious one. What's considered murder? You tell me ...

Sadly, abortion would go on, with or without legal status.....at least legally, the woman would stand a chance on living, without some quack, alley doctor doing his thing. Women are only human and will make mistakes....some do not make mistakes, they are raped. But whatever the cause, losing a life because of abortion (other then the babys life), should be avoided.

Legalizing abortion would make it less of a death threat, even if the woman was wrong in doing it.

But being illegal, is like making alcohol illegal years ago, and drugs illegal today, it only increases the crime rate because the mothers would only go under ground for abortions...and pay much more...maybe their lives.

It is not up to me to condemn a woman for what she does, for I too am a sinner.

Offering more and better adoption options would be the best thing to do... more adoption places should open up and allow a woman to give her child up...this would save both their lives. Keeping the mother's identity secret would also help.

Sorry, I didn't answer your question, I got off on another track.

Yes, the decision for a gay marriage or to abort a unborn baby, should be up to the people doing it, for they create their own path to walk on, and therefore, must face the consequences of it when God judges us all.

As I have said, I am not in any condition to judge others for their sins.

The country was founded on a Christian based faith. separation of church and state is not to keep Christianity out of government but to keep government from dicating how people should worship. Marriage is defined as between man and woman and is defined a Christian union from the start of the American government. So they could call it gay union and make some laws concerning it to give gay partners rights and tax situations. Why does it have to be called marriage because gays should not tell Christians how to define marriage and Christians cannot tell Gays how to define marriage. That is between God and man. So why does the government have to be involved in marriages at all? Why not just let it be between God and man and no more governmet invlolvement. They just try to get money for it and charge money for the divorce. the lawyers make a fortune.

My question is what was the real reason behind accepting gays and abortions and the death penalty. Problem is governments are only needed to protect the people from eachother. People are evil.. Very very evil. And greedy and stupid and lazy and violent and are prone too drug abuse.. Besides plenty of churches support gays some people just like to focus on negatives instead of positives what i dont appreciate is how god can say all men are equal. I am by no means equal to anyone i am above man. I am above all men god and christ as well i am the annointed cherub that is covering!

First, there are Many types of Christians.

Even Christians that are the same denomination don't agree with each other on gay and abortion issues...or anything.

You have to remember, that if someone is closed minded it's not their faith. It's how they are raised and their personality.

You are right, everything should be up for the people to decide. Most Christians would agree with that. Religion aside, people are people, they have their opinions. You're just going to have to learn how you're going to handle it.

I am a Christian and could care less what the government deems legal. It has no impact on my faith. This is such a corrupt country with such a corrupt government as it is...doesn't matter what they say is ok. I look to God and the Bible for my laws!

The gov started with christians I guess you didn't learn in history about the pilgrims but anyway I believe you should get to chose what you want like it says in the bible if you chose hell you chose hell and no one can stop you. People should not be forced to have morals as long as christians live natural lives and don't kill people there's nothing else that can be done but wait on Jesus to come back yeah!

Christians in the USA seem to follow whatever they are told. I am very puzzled by this.

Of course the only thing that has large enough budget for marketing the message to Christians are big corporations. So Christians easily become manipulated by large corporations.

Seems like whoever has large enough marketing campaigns can tell Christians to do anything.

I think you have that wrong about all Christians because the politics doesn't suit me either way. I am not born in the USA. Though I dedicate this song to American Christians. God Bless
