Have you ever tried asking yourself ''who invented God?"?

The word GOD from your question if you mean the Almighty Creator of all things then the word "invented" is inappropriate. He was never invented or created instead He's the Almighty Creator and has no beginning and ending. Look at how our universe was created and there are no scientific theories that best define the wonderful creation because scientists themselves confirmed that they do not know everything and cannot fully understand the vastness of creation. This is why theories are repeatedly being changed or modernized from time to time as new discoveries are made. Example: science claimed there were 9 planets in our solar system but now claimed in fact they've got it wrong, there are far more than 9 planets. In my opinion, there are hidden secrets surrounding creation that God does not want us to know. We only know an inch of what God would want us to know to support man's advancement. Human did not evolve in fact the theories of evolution are nothing but pile of guesses and myths without substantial proof which is supported by atheists to back their claim that God does not exist. Physically these atheists are educated and their theories are very good for academic excellence but they are fools lacking spiritual inspirations and wisdom. If man invented cars, ships, planes from mineral and natural resources such as iron ore, rubber, gold, diamond, chemicals etc that were created by God wouldn't it be logical to conclude that man must have been created by an Almighty Supreme Intelligent Being rather than naively saying that man came from apes or monkeys? In fact these creatures are still around and they cannot match the unique intelligence of man. I appreciate your curiosity but if I were you I wouldn't bother about the source of the Almighty Creator because He has got not an ending let alone a beginning and even if there was one it would be of a less importance anyway.

Since there's no evidence God even exists, the question is largely irrelevant. It is a common argument put forward to advocates of Intelligent Design however, though they never seem to quite get why it is asked and just bang on about how God doesn't need a creator without quite seeing the irony

Sure. Because I know that I often try to shape the people around me into who I want them to be , instead of who they are, so I'm sure I do that to God, too. Sigh.

Who invented which god? There are thousands, but the Christian version of god was invented by desert nomad shepherds.
Edit: @ "lion boy" dude, it is an intellectual pursuit to question the commonly held beliefs, but you Christians are either too afraid your god will get angry at you, or that your brain may actually begin to function.

Asking this question is what's known as a circular argument, if someone created God who created the creator and so on and so forth.

It seems that every culture at some point saw "god-people" come out of the sky... usually with spaceships and miraculous technology.

of course not. God was not 'invented.' He is and always has been. that's my belief.

I read somewhere that Neanderthals had practices that could only be described as religious. I imagine it started as simple superstitions and became more elaborate over time.
