Black Mouth equals Pedigree Cat?
My step-grandparents came over for Thanksgiving dinner today. One of our cats was actually being social enough for her to see him. She asked if he was pedigreed. We all just kind of laughed and told her that he wasn't. We took this cat (and his sister) in from outside two winters ago.
She went on saying how the roof of his mouth has some black in it (the gums/roof are partially black), so he had to be at least partially "pedigree" cat. I don't see how this is even remotely accurate.
I'm assuming it's old folklore that "pedigree cats have black mouths and 'non-pedigree' cats have pink mouths", true? Or is there some truth to this idea? Curiosity has gotten the best of me.
Thanks guys, I figured as much. It made no sense as she was saying it. I wanted to say something, but she's one of those cat people, so I figured I'd just keep my mouth shut.
It just didn't seem like there was any logical reasoning behind it.

No, he just has a black mouth. Having a black mouth is just a result of coloring. One of my cats has a partially black mouth and there's No way she's anything other than a domestic long hair.
The only recognized, pure breed cats come with papers from a breeder. So yes, it's just some odd folklore

That just depends of the color of the cat's fur, especially if it is black and white, tabby and white, or calico. These cats can have splotches of black inside their mouths and their foot pads can be mixed colors, too. I have a tortoiseshell that has a large splotch of black on the roof of her mouth while the rest of it is pink. Her foot pads are mixed black and pink.

FALSE - I owned purebred Cornish Rex cats - all of them (white, red tabby, calico, blue) had PINK mouths. My purebred grand champion Ocicats (cinnamon and chocolate-silver boys) have PINK mouths.
The color of the mouth has NOTHING to do with being a pedigree or part pedigree.

Exactly why is everyone with blond, why can't you just have jet black curly hair with some blonde or blonde curly hair with some jet black hair. Today you don't have to choose.

Brown would really suite you in our opinion. It looks really pretty and also it has a style that's actually noticeable. You'd look good with that.
