Rule of 3 when it comes to sexual partners? Why is it like this?

I think it is based on the notion that women like to portray themselves as more discerning and moderate, and think that admitting to a large number of partners will make them seem easy to get or immoral, whilst men like to portray themselves as experiences and successful in getting partners, so tend to exaggerate.

It's because women tend to play down the number of sexual partners they have had and men tend to exaggerate!

That whole formula is an Urban Myth and has nothing to do with Psychology. I've had many University level Psych classes and I can say this as well it is about as accurate as a newspaper horoscope!
