Help, I am being harassed...?
Hi, i live in the UK. One of my friends left money at my house a while ago. We are only talking of 50 pounds. I never saw the money. But as she was a friend, and as a gesture of good will I said I would pay her the money back.
I am on disability and unable to work, so I can only pay her 10 pounds per week. I have already paid her 20, so 30 remains... She has since moved away, but starting yesterday she sent a man to my house, and is harassing me by constantly calling and texting me. This other man has now gotten involved as well.. Constantly bombarding me with text messages saying "Pay or Else...!"
They have not directly threatened me with violence, but I am feeling very threatened by this whole situation. I already suffer from anxiety, but this has gotten me completely overboard! I am scared to peer through my curtains, let alone go outside.
What can I do to stop this?
Please, telling me to pay her or to borrow the money from somewhere else is not possible, as I have no money, and nobody to borrow from.
All I can afford is to pay her 10 pounds per week for another three weeks...
Should I go to the police? Please, any help and advice is greatly appreciated!

"Pay or else"
That IS a threat. Text them back and explain that you can't pay more than 10 per week, and if they don't stop harrassing you, you will have no choice but to take the evidence of their threat to the police.

"Pay or else" isn't a threat because it's an incomplete thought. The finish to the sentence could be "Pay or else I'll take you to court" isn't an actionable threat because that's a legal course of action.
Ignore everything except respond to the text by saying "I'll continue to pay you 10 pouds per week as per our original agreement". Then ignore them until you finish paying it off.

yes, you are being harrassed and feel threatened. there was no proof the friend left the money, and youre paying back out of good will and friendship. the friend has no right in sending some strange guy to your house. not only would i consider harrassment charges, I would consider a restraining order on both the guy and your 'friend'
