Second opinion needed?

I took my cat into the vet two weeks ago cause I found a huge scabby part on her back and her fur was falling out. The cat comes in take a look and shrugs it off as she got into a fight with my other cat and he scratched her and caused an infection which was causing the scabbing and the fur falling out. He gave her a antibiotic shot and said to just watch her. I asked for a skin scrap to rule out things like parasites, diseases. etc. but he said it wasn't necessary cause it was just a scratch. I felt rather just shuffled in and shuffled out without any type of actual caring from the vet.

Has anyone ever experienced something like this with their cats? Getting a scratch and having the skin get scabby and have the fur fall off?

A bit part of her back is bald and the base of her tail is completely bald. Does anyone have any insight? Would a second opinion be wise or am I just making a big deal about nothing?

Update:

Ugh *face palm* I meant: The vet comes in to take a look. Not the cat. Darn typos.

Call and ask how long it should take before you should notice an improvement. If, by that time you have seen no change, or if it gets worse, go to a different vet.

Even if he was right, his attitude and treatment of you isn't something you're going to want to deal with again.

Its a scar and scars live bold spots, which later the fur will grow back. The scab could be the infection that is healing. Put some antibiotic ointment on it, she will be fine. As for the vet, he/she should performed tests if you specifically asked for, even that the vet thought was nothing. I guess you should get another vet in the future. Hope this helped.

I would HIGHLY advise you change vets. Your cat sooner or later, is going to have to go back for 'something' in the future. You wouldn't continue to take your child to a doctor who had the same demeanor. If you now know what to expect, then you have to be responsible for crap service in the future. I'm not judging, but I'm a stubborn person, and this type of answer is the only one that would get me to really think. Nothing to do with you. Anyway, I can say, that my cat who loves to fight, but never wins, has gone to the vet numerous times for minor wounds, with some turning into abscess. When I started to feed him correctly, his healing time went through the roof. Lose the dry, and get a good quality wet food, from here on out. Please review the website below, that saved two of my kitty's life. You can email me.
