What episode should i start one piece from?
Basically i started watching it originally when it was the 4kids dub and fell asleep. It made me stop watching animes completely. i started watching anime again this year and i've heard one piece got better. What episode should i start on, because i honestly don't want to watch 100 episodes of filler like i did bleach, i just want to see some good fights. Also if i fastfoward ahead will i miss anything important. In you answer provide the episode number of the english dub so that way i can immediately find it

Here is what you should know about the 4kids Dub:
Let me explain what 4kids did to One Piece. This is more or less what happened. 4kids got the rights to dub, air on television, and sell DVDs of One Piece. 4 kids ruined the whole series with what a terrible job they did with censoring and dubbing the whole series. With the censoring the took out all bad words, took out cleavage, changed guns to super soakers, deleted all the blood and made Sanji's cigarettes a f!@#$ing lolly pops. They deleted Ace's tattoo for like one seen, Americanized the food like turning rice balls into doughnuts, deleted all Japanese words in the series, and changing names. The most offensive and racist thing they did was turn a black character into a white character. The dubbing that they did was half a$$ed. The dubbings dialogue was awful, it was very bad comic book style lines. Another problem with the dubbing was the voices were bad, Luffy had a piercingly high irritating voice, Zoro sounded constipated, and I don't even want to talk about Usopp. They skipped huge parts of the series. The entire Little Garden Ark was cut as well as many other episodes. After Mutilating the One Piece series they tried to air it on the WB and Cartoon Network. They f!@#$%ing made it unwatchable and they didn’t understand why they weren’t getting good ratings. NO ONE could watch it. After getting terrible ratings the show was canceled after a brief run. That is the ridiculus things that 4kids did to One Piece. If 4kids had never gotten their greedy hands on One Piece then the Anime could have had as much success and as many fans as Naruto or Bleach.
Luckily for us Funimation has it now and is doing a good job with the series. You can even go to funimations web site and watch a bunch of episodes, that are dubbed. Here is a link: http://www.onepieceofficial.com/videos.a%E2%80%A6
If you want to see what they did to One Piece for yourself Youtube One Piece 4kids censoring http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMH5fiPpo%E2%80%A6 Kahn, the CEO of 4kids, thinks about children reading(this is the funny version of something he actually said!!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2TjVwUdR%E2%80%A6 and One Piece vs. 4kids (this video is FUNNY!!).
It is really really really good anime. It gets better and better with each new story arc. I have seen a ton of anime ( Still under construction: http://myanimelist.net/animelist/Kaizoku_Mugiwara ) and One Piece is the best anime that I have ever seen. The millions of fans that watch and read One Piece would agree with me too. The one thing that you should know if you decide to watch One Piece is that it did start in 1997, so that beginning of the series is definatly an old school anime. But One Piece has evolved over since it got started. The most recent arcs are as good as any anime that has been created in the the last few years; both in animation and story. I can usually predict what the outcome of any event in an anime is, however, with One Piece I am continuesly proven wrong.
One Piece filler is not like the filler in Naruto and Bleach. There is never more that 10 episodes of filler in a row. They usually have continuity with the main storyline. At the least One Piece filler is really funny. I would watch them too. Another thing that makes the filler in One Piece different is that there is a ton of filler that is based off of Eiichiro Oda's chapter coves for the One Piece chapters. So at least the basic storyline for the filler is based off of something he did. You will never have to watch 100+ episodes of filler of One Piece. Most people agree that when that One Piece is the best series concerning the "filler issue".
I would watch the whole thing. One Piece is very interesting that way. They will name and briefly talk about a character in episode 50, and that character won't be introduced until episode 450. It has a lot of for shadowing that makes that series fun to watch. You should start watching it from the beginning. It is worth your time to watch the whole thing.

Episode 1, trust me. I was asking the same question as you when I was starting One Piece and I didn't want to watch all time-consuming several hundreds of episodes. But I realized that it's much better starting on ep. 1 because then you will understand everything. Don't worry, it won't take that long to catch up. I started not too long ago and I'm on episode 247. Just watch like 5 episodes a day.

When they say the anime got better, they mean they got a better dub. The 4kids dub has been discontinued for years, and FUNimation has taken over.
FUNimation redubbed the whole series, because 4kids took out so many plot points and scenes it's not even funny. I recommend you start at FUNimation episode 1, or just watch the Japanese version.

Really u shouldd start on episode 1. There are alot of important stuff in the beggining that will make u understand the story. However, you might find the anime quite boring for the first few episodes. But keep watching! It would get really interesting later. It is a really long anime...

There is always going to be a lot of build up between big fights, and one piece is a pain to watch episode by episode, but if you have the time and access to watch an entire arc, or half an arc, at once it is a great series to get into.

Episode 1 is always your safe bet. New and Old characters are still appearing in the show. Most of the fights have a meaning/reason why they are fighting. The back-stories are excellent and well done, and many times you will shed a manly tear for the characters.

Episode 30- Funimation
Sanji leaves with the crew and the plot starts to pick up at that point. Many fans said that the Arlong arc is usually when they decided that they would stick with One Piece.
