I went in to my basemnt and i found a rabid cat.?

K so ...i walked down stair to my basement and i saw my neighbourhood cat. I think it has rabies and if it bites me i dont want to upset him so i spent money on buying steak and treat for the cat. Now i dont want tovget bot but i want the cat out.... How to i go down to the basement and not get bit

    I am not sure if this is serious, but if it is - why do you think it has rabies? It is rare to hear of a rabid cat even in areas where there is an outbreak of rabies. Just offer it food and keep putting small pieces down on the way out of your house.
