Bullies and Weight pull events?

So for anyone here who does weight pull with their APBTs/pit or other breeds have you ever seen anyone with an Am. Bully at the event?

If yes: How well did their dog do? And obviously most are built differently, but how was the dog's actual pulling compared to other dogs who went up?

If no: Do you think there is a reason why you haven't seen any at the pull events you go to?

And to avoid any possible confusion I am not talking about American Bulldogs.

Haven't seen any myself at the events I have been to.

Update:

DSR: Last one i went to was late last year. NWDA event. Nice turn out really. If you're anywhere near where the UKC premier will be you check out the pull competitions there. The small dogs are always entertaining to watch.

Greek: You know I have to inject some normal questions in here once in awhile.

Update 2:

Biggy: I know how a pull even is done and what handler/owners say. And hey no one made you answer. BTW was this at a bully even or an all breed event, since the question is mostly about all breed events. And not to say you're fibbing, but you know when a simple google search can't back you up, one has to question the validity of that statement.

Update 3:

Cassie: Heck most of those vids are just training vids and not actual comp vids. But yes you are right, many of them show that those dogs have not been trained and conditioned correctly. They've got owners who think mass is enough and those dogs are going to eventually suffer for that.

Some of the "classic" Bullies pull decently. These are the dogs that look like over done AmStaffs. They still come nowhere near the percentages pulled by real APBT in most cases.

Bullies tend to run too hot early on due to the mass and structural flaws inherent to the "breed".

Weight pull is why one of the most controversial families/bloodlines out there exists.Eddington's Wanna be a Whopper.A known mastiff mix that was allowed registry as an APBT.The start of dogs known as Oklahoma pull dogs.

I haven't BEEN to any, so I apologize if my answer is not what you're looking for...

How many Bulldogs do you see at the events? They are too thick, and heavy to perform. The same goes to American Bullies. (Thank you for reiterating that they are NOT American Bulldogs)

I have observed pulls on a few websites, I would KILL to go to a real event, but they aren't close to me. Though I will travel to one soon!

AB really, as you know, are not meant for sport. They're not meant for much of anything really.

    Coming back with links.....

These are last years results from the IWPA: http://www.iwpa.net/files/46354799.html

I do see they have "Olde English Bulldoggs" in there, but I'm positive it's not a breed. (Not to mention they spelled "Shepherd" wrong)

Most recent results with just APBT and Huskies: http://www.iwpa.net/files/50311924.html

I have yet to find ANY American Bullies used in competition. http://www.iwpa.net/Pull_Results.html

And I don't see any here either: http://www.pulldoggies.com/gallery.htm

  • I've seen pictures and videos of bullies pulling, but a lot of them aren't trained right.

but I do know that ABKC (what a great registry. LMAO) has WP events

We don't have pits or bullies in the UK but from what I've seen of pictures of bullies then they are likely to have trouble walking let alone pulling. Hate to think what x-rays of those elbows look like.

They are going the way of our Bulldogs. Poor things.

Beats me how people could possibly see these as fit healthy dogs.

Rayven, why are you asking questions that require knowledge and some thinking to answer in here?

Have not seen one in a few years, but, last time I happened to see one, there were a few pits there that pulled weights that are ridiculous. Never seen a bully at one, dont really want to. Hope I helped.

    Never been too one

    Never seen one

never will go to one .

In my eyes it's basically people with exaggerated ego's that have no care for their dog other than for their own entertainment .
