2000 Grand Am security system?
Has anyone found the cure for the security system on a Pontiac Grand Am that continuously engages at certain times?
I've heard it could be a bad ignition lock cylinder, but haven't found anything definitive....has anyone found a cure that works?

Your 2000 Grand Am has the Passlock system (first source). Although the GM standard is to replace the ignition cylinder and do the relearn procedure, I have never seen a bad cylinder. The relearn procedure works well. See the second source, in the Common Problems section, for the 30 minute procedure. Note that whereever it says "ten minutes" it is not one second less than ten minutes. Some procedures call it eleven minutes to be sure. My daughter's 2004 Classic has been doing just fine for two years after I had to teach it.
