Is the countries economic woes a problem of spending or a problem of taxation?
So in 2001 tax revenue was 1.991T spending was 1.862T. by the end of teh Bush era revenue was 2.523T but spending was 2.982T.
2012 est revenue 2.468T , spending 3.795T.
Tax revenue has overall increased over the last 12 years. not alot but some. spending has nearly doubled.
The numbers to me show that there is no other conclusion than to say we have a spending problem, not a revenue problem. the fed government has been trying to spend their way to prosperity for over a decade now and judging by the unemployment rate, the housing market, and multiple other factors it doesnt appear to have worked.

Good points, should be obvious, as has been said. The president's goal is to get us used to the spending, and after a time he will be justified in raising taxes again.
This process will continue over the next 4 years, and perhaps beyond if the voters don't get smarter.

Any Rational, Reasonable, Logical, semi-Literate Human Being comes up with the same conclusion you have.
Unfortunately, we are currently out-numbered by the Irrational, Unreasonable, illiterate Majority of the population that believe getting something for nothing is a 'status symbol' and brag amongst themselves for ways that they can 'beat the system.' Ways they can get More, while doing less.
And it will continue to worsen as people realize that the Government no longer holds anyone Individually Accountable to live up to the Personal Responsibility of Citizenship. The responsibility of being a member of a civil society.

No predicament has been fixed. We've three government scandals in growth. I might say Obama had tons of energy (and followers)as he is been in a position to dismantle the treasure of freedom and most traditions previously held in esteem in the united states. If he can undo things in a bit of over one time period, then he has the vigor to "fix issues" in that identical period of time. He's the one who got here up with all of the stimulus applications (that did not work), bailing out auto and other organizations (that did not work), tried to stop a cap on government spending, and helped broaden the national Debt. If he is so smart, then why didn't he be aware of one factor about Benghazi? He stated he realized about it the equal means we do, with the aid of the tv news. I am thinking the Commander-in-chief can be informed FIRST about whatever involving the military earlier than any news leaked out. Nobody in his administration knows one factor about the IRS as you hear them with that reply when asked about it. Eric Holder had no answers to rapid & livid both. Rough to feel they 're all that unknowledgable of what's happening beneath our noses. Possibly if one plays dumb, it will all go away but long-established feel tells us any individual in the IRS knew.

That is cherry picking. Let me remind you what happened four years ago when the collapse of the global banking system required a massive economic bail out (ie increased spending), which was working until it was sabotaged by the lunatic right making an issue of the debt, which, while a long term issue, was not the immediate priority. Economic grwoth was, and as the experiences of the UK, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany and others tell us, keep the course with stimulus and you will return to growth, cut and your risk economic growth and ultimatelz making the defifict worse (as happened in the UK)

It is definitely spending, but who can really track the waste down, the government has so many programs and divisions it has created to funnel money through and the created jobs and projects to pay back supporters and lobbyists.
look at the money given to countries who are not even our allies, after iraq the government paid Iraqis back for their homes being destroyed, Congress and the senate are guilty of wasteful spending and hiding funds from the American public.

Most conservatives understand this. With the winding down of the Iraq war the Democrats wanted to take the money spent on an "unfunded" war and put it towards social programs where the money would magically become "funded".

funny how during bush that extra went to pay for war,but now we are not in iraq yet we are spending more,we have a over tax problem and an even bigger over spending problem
