Depression self-help tip 1: Cultivate supportive relationships

Getting the support you need plays a big role in lifting the fog of depression and keeping it away. On your own, it can be difficult to maintain perspective and sustain the effort required to beat depression. But the very nature of depression makes it difficult to reach out for help. However, isolation and loneliness make depression even worse, so maintaining your close relationships and social activities are important.

Tip 2: Depression puts a negative spin on everything, including the way you see yourself, the situations you encounter, and your expectations for the future.

Depression self-help tip 3: Take care of yourself

In order to overcome depression, you have to take care of yourself. This includes following a healthy lifestyle, learning to manage stress, setting limits on what you’re able to do, adopting healthy habits, and scheduling fun activities into your day.

Depression self-help tip 4: Get regular exercise

When you’re depressed, exercising may be the last thing you feel like doing. But exercise is a powerful tool for dealing with depression. In fact, studies show that regular exercise can be as effective as antidepressant medication at increasing energy levels and decreasing feelings of fatigue.

    Depression self-help tip 5: Eat a healthy, mood-boosting diet

What you eat has a direct impact on the way you feel. Aim for a balanced diet of protein, complex carbohydrates, fruits and vegetables.

Depression self-help tip 6: Know when to get additional help

If you find your depression getting worse and worse, seek professional help. Needing additional help doesn’t mean you’re weak. Sometimes the negative thinking in depression can make you feel like you’re a lost cause, but depression can be treated and you can feel better!

Often when we loose all hope and think this is the end, God smiles from above and says ‘relax dear its just a bend. Not the end. Have Faith and have a successful life.

Do some prayer daily. Read religious book daily (even one verse/sentence can make the change)

Do some charity (give something in charity-even one rupee will/or an old cloth to poor will be good)Give some food to stray dog/birds

Don’t hate anybody. Love all and see the change. Evenif somebody scolding you don’t scold in reply. God is great and will listen you and solve your problem.

    Good luck and God bless

    Borderline personality disorder:

Borderline personality disorder (BPD) (called emotionally unstable personality disorder, borderline type in the ICD-10) is a personality disorder characterized by unusual variability and depth of moods. These moods may secondarily affect cognition and interpersonal relationships.

Other symptoms of BPD include impulsive behavior, intense and unstable interpersonal relationships, unstable self-image, feelings of abandonment and an unstable sense of self. An unstable sense of self can lead to periods of dissociation. People with BPD often engage in idealization and devaluation of others, alternating between high positive regard and heavy disappointment or dislike. Such behavior can reflect a black-and-white thinking style, as well as the intensity with which people with BPD feel emotions. Self-harm and suicidal behavior are common and may require inpatient psychiatric care.

This disorder is only recognized by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition (DSM-IV) in individuals over the age of 18. However, symptoms of BPD can also be found in children and adolescents. Without treatment, symptoms may worsen, potentially leading to suicide attempts.

There is an ongoing debate about the terminology of this disorder, especially the word "borderline." The ICD-10 manual refers to this disorder as Emotionally unstable personality disorder and has similar diagnostic criteria. There is related concern that the diagnosis of BPD stigmatizes people with BPD and supports discriminatory practices.

get a second opinion. Personality disorders are not diagnosed until after the age of 18 because until then their personality is still forming and subject to change... a personality disorder is a pervasive pattern of perceiving and reacting to the world that is enduring and long term..... I think it is the new catch all though for some doctors. Was it a psychiatrist who diagnosed her? She could have "emerging" BPD, or she could have Oppositional defiance disorder, or Bipolar... But you are right, technically, according to the diagnostic criteria, she can not have Borderline. Definitely get a second opinion.... if she is Bipolar then the treatment is very different.

How did you learn that you have this disorder? If it was from the internet, it's probably inaccurate. Up until the early 90s, BPD was a "catch-all" for any personality disorder that didn't quite fit into a category. In order to be properly diagnosed, you must see a therapist, psychiatrist, etc. That being said, I have BPD and there is no way to "cure" the disorder. There are plenty of way to overcome and cope with it, however. This includes therapy, possibly medications, and something called Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or DBT. DBT is not as scary as it sounds. It's usually learned in a group setting, and is the main treatment for BPD. It basically is a way to learn different techniques to cope with your disorder. Hope this helps!

I am not a clinical psychologist but my understanding is bpd can be cured or resolved at least in some. My advice is to try to get a copy of the following book (below in the link).

Also I found this quote on the Wikipedia page on BPD: 'contrary to popular belief, recovery from BPD is not only possible but common, even for those with the most severe symptoms'.

PS You don't need a Kindle device to read the above e-book. If you have a PC you can download the Kindle application to you PC and use your PC to read Kindle books. See link below

Sadly there is no cure for any sort of "personality disorder", you may only mask the symptoms, after all it is a part of your personality, something which can not be changed.
