Do you use a mandoline slicer in the kitchen for slicing and do you like it?

Depends on how much I am preparing. If I were to slice a cucumber and a tomato for a salad or garnish for a sandwich for four persons, I would simply use a knife and chopping board BUT if I were making a coleslaw for a small group, I may consider using my mandoline. If I were preparing a lot more, I take my food processor out.

I love using my mandoline but it does need some care but totally worth using if you cut a lot of veggies.

If I have to thin slice a whole bag of potatoes I will drag out my mandolin. Other than that I use my Chinese cleaver. I use it for everything.

I bought my mandolin at an oriental grocery store for about $6.00. It is all plastic, does an acceptable job but in the end I am much faster with the knife.

Yes I use one in the kitchen and yes I like it otherwise I wouldn't have bought it in the first plave.

I rarely need it as a sharp knife will suit me most of the time, for all of the finecutting I have to do.

As I cook for one it's not worth the effort to get out, use for a few minutes, and then clean it up and put it away again..

Yes. They can be very expensive, like upwards of $100. I got one at Kitchenworks for $35 or so and it's great. I use it for doing thin sliced potatoes, and onions.

I was given one, but never use it. Too much trouble to dig it out of the cupboard and clean it up, a good knife and cutting board works fine.

I love using one ... I don't personally have one in my kitchen at home since the good ones are out of my price range.
