Is coconut oil good for you to eat?

Like just spreading over food. Is it good for you? Does it make you loose weight? or would it b healthier to just not?

The best oil you can have is olive oil (extra virgin). But I'm not going to say coconut oil is bad.

If you want to reduce the chances of developping a cardiovascular disease, consume 2 to 4 spoonfuls of olive oil a day. Cook your meat, fish and vegetables with olive oil.

Although if you consume a lot of donuts and sugary drinks, among other junk food, olive oil won't have any significant effect on your health, so it all must be examined as a whole, not just one thing. And I'm not talking about exercise only, but also other factors that can play an important role in your life (your job, the people you hang out with, your habits, the city or neighborhood you live in). Food is definitely very important, but other aspects must also be considered, although people eating healthy or not tends to correlate with them being part of a specific social stratus.

Don't spread oil all over food, just pour some in a frying pan and then put the food you want to cook in it. That's how I cook my steaks.

Yes it is good for you. In fact it may be the healthiest kind of fat there is. It won't make you lose weight by itself, but it's good to use as part of a diet that will help you lose weight. I eat a low-carb high-fat diet and I eat coconut oil every day.

Most of the fat in coconut oil is a very special kind of fat called medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs). What's cool about MCT's is that the body cannot store them as fat. You either burn it as energy immediately, or you crap it away.

Now, I don't really see the point of spreading it over food. But, you can cook with it (eggs scrambled or fried in coconut oil are great), and you can mix it into certain recipes that call for fat. Also, I swear, a spoonful first thing in the morning keeps you more regular than fiber does. Also, some folks like to stir it into coffee. Good extra virgin organic coconut oil is tasty enough to eat with a spoon. Get a good brand like Nutiva or Artisana.

It is considered a healthy oil, regardless of what people say about saturated fat, it is a medium-trygliceride so it acts differently in the body.

    Anyways

    No

Its just fat and will add more calories
