Question about bandages on a cat?
Just took a cat to the vet and they bandaged up her paw.
The bandaging itself is pink, but at the tip there is some brown gauze/wrapping and at the top there is also some brown gauze/wrapping. It doesn't completely go around the bandaging in either place.
I know we need to do as much as possible to keep her from taking the bandaging off, but I'm curious what the purpose of the brown wrapping is, and what would happen if we at least cut it a little bit to discourage her from pulling at it?

The bandage is probably coban which comes in different colors indicating different levels of elasticity. Call the vet and ask if it is ok to cut the bandage sticking out.... Otherwise she may keep tugging til she literally unwraps it.

There is probably several layers of bandages under the pink bandage on the outside. Bandaging is tricky - there is padding on the wound and the next layer is usually a thinner, sturdy brown gauze and the outer layer is thicker (and usually multiple colors) which covers the entire inner bandage. Sounds right. You need to keep her from chewing - an e-collar is sometimes used. I would not cut the brown bandage as it is the main bandaging material and you don't know what is underneath. Do the best you can.
