Can you get side effects after augmentin is completed?
I was prescribed augmentin 875 for a sinus, and ear infection. For 10 days / 2 times a day.
the only side effect i had was diarrhea.
i had no problem with the pills at all while taking them, until the 19th pill. I had this rash all over my body, they did not hurt or itch or anything, and as the day went on the went away. By the next day they were hardly there. i finished the last pill.
And i've been dealing with a sore behind. the skin hurts. and hurts a little bit to go to the bathroom. the skin just seems more irritated than anything.
but these only happened after the pills were done. is it possible to get the side effects after they are completed? wouldn't i have had at least a reaction earlier? and how long does this last in your system? ive been off this for 9 days now. Thanks for any help.

Yes, definetly!
This will sound funny, but my 1 year old son was prescribed Augmentin for an ear infection too, just last week. His stools were verrrryyy watery, lots of diarrhea. He also had what we call "diaper rash" which is a painful rash in his bottom area.
So yeah, it sounds like a normal side effect!! :)

Because antibiotics change the microflora of your gut, you can have symptoms like diarrhea persist after stopping your course of pills. Try to replace what the antibiotics killed in your intestines by eating yogurt or taking probiotic pills. Once your feces normalize, your sore behind may clear up on it's own.

Hi,
antibiotics kill both good and bad bacteria so you will have to restore the natural balance of your body. Eat yogurt at least once a day and buy probiotics at the pharmacy. Also, try avoiding starchy and sugary foods for a few days. Good luck*
