How do I get my cat to stop scratching little kids?
My cat doesn't like little kids. She scratches them and I don't want to lock her away when kids come over. Is there a solution to this problem?

Why are you letting kids torment and tease the cat to the point it has to defend itself? Either keep the kids away from the cat or surrender it to a resuce

Cats do not attack and scratch for the heck of it. Keep nails trimmed or use the SoftPaws nail caps. The cat doesn't like kids - respect that. The cat would be less stressed out if you just confine her when kids are running around.
Obviously she may have been hurt by a child in the past and this is her reaction.

I have seen some little kids around cats and the kids have NO CLUE how
to properly pick up a cat or handle a cat. Possibly the kids are miss-
treating the cat and that is why it scratches them.

The children aren't treating the cat right, obviously. The cat wouldn't be scratching them out of the blue if they hadn't hurt it or rough-housed the cat in some way. Watch the kids while they are around the cat, make sure they know not to pick up the cat or hit it. Discipline the kids if they do and scold them. Cats don't seek out to hurt others, they only hurt people when they are scared or they themselves have been hurt.

Tell the kids to LEAVE HER ALONE. Clearly they're bothering her or even hurting her and she's reacting by scratching them. The CHILDREN need training not your cat! Shame on you for forcing the little demons on her!

The children probably did something to the cat so she can feel threatened. Let the kids treat her right. Maybe let them pet her if she allows so she can see that they arent a threat. Let them play with her maybe. If that doesnt work, then just put her in a room. For her and the kids safety.

The children are more important, because cat scratches can become seriously infected, so if you have to lock your cat away, just do it.

The kids are not treating the cat properly or she would not be scratching them. Either insist that they handle her properly or lock her up.
