What ways can I enjoy bread (besides toasting/grilling)?
Besides putting butter on, what other ways can I enjoy eating bread on its own? One interesting combination is warm french bread/baguette dipped in buttermilk.

Ever go to an Italian restaurant where they serve thick, chewy bread without butter? They have small 'saucers' and something to drizzle olive oil & balsamic vinegar.
Pour a small puddle of oil, drip a drop or three of balsamic (and sometimes a sprinkle of salt), tear the bread into strips/cubes, dip into the oil and eat. Simple and delicious. Better with a thicker french or italian bread.

The hot new way to eat bread is to toast the bread, then spread it with fresh smashed avocado, sprinkled with lemon juice and sea salt (look up "avocado toast").
Bread can also be made into croutons to eat with soup or salad, garlic cheese toast or bruschetta, or cinnamon/sugar toast at breakfast.

You can have it fried and it's heaven.
I'll give you the monte cristo sandwich recipe.
Mayonnaise
Ham slice or Turkey Slice
Gouda cheese (or any good melting cheese you'd like)
2-3 eggs beaten.
Milk
Butter
Vegetable oil (for frying in pan or in a deep fryer)
Plastic wrap (if you want for sealing ends of sandwich)
Get 2 slices of bread and spread with mayonnaise.
With each slice put a slice of Gouda cheese (or good melting cheese you prefer) and 1 slice of ham or turkey on each.
Put the third slice of bread on top of one slice of bread and flip the remaining stack on top, cheese-side down, to make a triple-decker sandwich.
Using a knife, cut the crusts off the sandwich (to pinch and seal the ends). Wrap the sandwich tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes and up to 6 hours. (Or if you want it straight away pinch the end and press down firmly to tighten the ends, Wrapping the sandwich in plastic wrap, compacts it, and prevents the egg batter from seeping in.)
Combine the eggs and milk in a bowl. Heat the oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat or just oil in the deep fryer.
Unwrap the sandwich and dip it in the egg batter, to coat evenly.
Gently place it in the skillet, and fry, turning once, until golden brown and hot, about 5 minutes total.
Cut the Monte Cristo in 1/2 if you'd like and enjoy!!
Hope this helped.

You can make the "English bread pudding" just like my grandma did or make in some French toast?
How-about making some croutons and using it on salads and soups ( such as gazpacho)? Just like I often do to maintain a low calorie intake . :)

Make a mixture of sharp cheese and beer and pour it over the bread and then bake. It's called a Welsh rarebit and it's delicious.

Make a sandwich. Make a pizza on it (cut it open and put pizza stuff on it and bake it.) Eat it with dinner. Put butter and garlic on it and make garlic bread. Make bruschetta (toast it really dark) then put a salsa type mixture on it. Delish.
