3 AnswersMathematics3 years agoAm I addicted to exercise? Do I need to be doing less?
It has turned into a routine to do some intense strength training til exhaustion every other day. It's usually one day of big exercise and one day of rest (which still includes some form of exercise). I think I may be addicted to strength training.
My future career will be quite sedentary and I've recently suffered from disordered eating. The idea that I will be sat on my butt all day is enough to make me feel uneasy, and it has gone to the point where I stand up whenever I can and move around to burn some energy. Although I feel at ease after intense excercise, I've been getting spots and sores on my face combined with occasional **** sleep. Am I putting too much stress on my body? Does it sound like I am addicted to excercise?
3 AnswersDiet & Fitness6 years agoWhat was the culture in hawaii like during the 80s?
What was the music scene like? Was it bustling with tourism with lively night scenes? Since it lies right between Asia and the USA, how much did Asian culture influence Hawaiian culture in terms of music, food, etc. Were asians a majority or a minority at the time (particularly the japanese)?
Thank you :)
1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture6 years agoHummus lovers! Please help me out?
What gives good hummus that characteristic rich and deep nutty flavour (if that's what authentic hummus is supposed to taste like anyway)?
I tried a spoonful of tahini on its own made from raw sesame seeds and it tasted pretty bland. There's a juice bar I visit all the time just for their hummus, but I never got around to asking how they make theirs. Is it possible that I'm not adding enough tahini? Or is it possible that that they're using sunflower seed butter instead?
5 AnswersCooking & Recipes6 years agoAdding hummus to sushi?
I was wondering if there is anything I can add to a sushi filling to give it a little moisture and creaminess other than ripe avocado or mayo.
What's your opinion on adding hummus to a sushi filling? And what seafood would typically pair well with something like hummus?
3 AnswersCooking & Recipes6 years agoEating disorder question- What will happen to me if I just let go?
I've been dealing with having eating disorders for about 6 months now and I'm terrified of regaining the weight I've lost.
I've seen my doctor and he told me that as long as I eat protein, I won't gain fat. If I start giving my body carbs and sugar, I'll gain fat rather than muscle (regardless of excercise). That's the advice I got.
The problem is that I'm craving exactly that; carbs. I can eat protein only to end up feeling unsatisfied and end up overeating on carbs. At the same time I'm very close to giving up excercise ; I have no energy for it anymore and its mental and physical torture. I'm scared of gaining fat if I give my body a break and eat junk, but that's the combination that my body is asking for.

1 AnswerDiet & Fitness6 years agoPancakes, waffles, cake, chocolate, buns or candy?
I'm craving junk and don't know what's worth sabotaging my health with.
And don't reply with "fruit". I don't want to stuff my face knowing that I'm trying to cheat myself
4 AnswersOther - Food & Drink6 years agoDo you like pancakes?
I have a serious love for them! We need to erect a pancake monument, similar to this wonderful monument of a russian dumpling
Seriously, how can you resist soft and milky crepes filled with with jam or cottage cheese and drizzled with sour cream? How can you resist maple syrup and sweet fluffy american pancakes? Why don't people have pancake cakes on their birthday? (I would!)
8 AnswersPolls & Surveys6 years agoShould I omit the eggs or milk when making crepes/pancakes?
I absolutely love crepes (thin pancakes) and usually eat them plain until I'm stuffed. In an effort to make them less fattening, what would be the better option to omit? Should I use an alternative to milk or should I remove the egg yolk and just use egg whites? As long as it looks like a pancake I'm totally fine with it tasting slightly plain (That's where vanilla comes in!)
2 AnswersCooking & Recipes6 years agoWhy do young people eat a lot and not get fat?
Young teens and people in their 20's can eat food in stupid amounts and not to put any noticeable fat.
After reading much on excercise, it's apparently useless when it comes to cancelling out the calories obtained from food (I mean, after burning 300 calories you're already exhausted)
Is the concept of calories in/calories out misleading?
5 AnswersDiet & Fitness6 years agoWhat ways can I enjoy bread (besides toasting/grilling)?
Besides putting butter on, what other ways can I enjoy eating bread on its own? One interesting combination is warm french bread/baguette dipped in buttermilk.

9 AnswersCooking & Recipes6 years agoHow many pancakes do you eat in one sitting?
I don't have pancakes often, which probably explains why I eat them in ridiculous amounts.
I can (And do) usually down 12 of these without any fillings, maple syrup, or any of that nonsense.
How about you? (and be honest!)
3 AnswersPolls & Surveys6 years agoI'm scared of getting fat. Do I have anorexia?
I'm a 19 year old male who's developed an obsession with food and weight over the months. I'm far from fat (I'm borderline underweight).
The trouble is, I LOVE food. I think about it all day every day. I'm not necessarily hungry all the time, but I look forward to meal times.
The trouble is, though, is that I love eating but because I have an unhealthy obsession with food, I'm scared of getting fatter. I also tend to "binge"/overreat only to find myself forcefully putting myself through a dreadful hour of exercise.
How can I get out of this loop? I always feel like I NEED to expend energy or else I'm going to get fat. I can't just sit down and relax in the evening after a meal.or eat a burger and not look back.
1 AnswerDiet & Fitness6 years agoEating store-bought fish raw?
I've made sushi before using raw salmon bought in vacuum packaging from the supermarket. Safe to say that I was fine afterwards.
This time round I bought tuna steaks which weren't in a vacuum packaging. I put the tuna in the freezer for about a week and it's now defrosting in the freezer. Is it safe enough to eat raw once it defrosts?

2 AnswersOther - Food & Drink6 years agoHow can I extent my ethernet connection?
I have a ps3 that I want to connect to the router via ethernet, but the cable is too short.
Are there any devices I can buy that can somehow extend the range of this cable?
I've heard of homeplugs, but what exactly are they?
1 AnswerComputer Networking6 years agoHow can I stop fearing of getting fat?
In recent months I've discovered a lot of information that I'd rather remain ignorant about, like why carbohydrates promote weight gain, why sitting for too long is bad, why you need to exercise at least 30 minutes a day. Thanks to this **** I've developed the fear of getting fat, something I've never had a problem with before.
Has anybody ever had this problem and managed to forget about it and go back to their old habits? I'm nowhere near overweight and for the most part I probably consume less junk than the average person, but nowadays I can't get sleep if I know that I've sat for more than 3 hours today. How can I just let go?

5 AnswersOther - Food & Drink6 years agoIs glucose syrup, High-fructose corn syrup and corn syrup the same thing?
In the UK, glucose syrup seems to be a really common ingredient in processed foods yet in the USA, HFC'S are the common ingredient in most processed foods. Are both the same thing but named differently?
5 AnswersDiabetes6 years agoIs sugar necessary to make sponge cake?
Is sugar essential in making the batter rise to make a sponge? I don't see any point in it since you can't taste the sponge when its smothered in cream and toppings.
