Obese cats.?
My mother's cats have ballooned to raccoon sized in the past few years. They are sisters, born in 2007. My parents have had many happy and healthy cats over the years, and fed them the exact same thing over the years. She has limited their otherwise free-range kibble. I asked her to take them to the vet, but she is afraid of being yelled at for making them fat. I can't leave town to kidnap my mom's cats to take them to the vet, so perhaps advice on what made them balloon, and what could be wrong?

The vets won't "yell" at your mother for letting the cats get fat. They'll gently say that it's dangerous to the cats' health and that she needs to try them on a different diet. The vets are like a head teacher - they won't scold your mum. Make sure she gets them to the vet because something could be wrong with them. If they're just plain fat from over-feeding or the wrong food, the vets can advise her as to what food she should give them.

No vet will yell at her. They will suggest she make changes, but in a nice way.
Get the cats off kibble. They should be getting grain free canned or raw.

Once I got my cat off kibble he immediately started losing weight. He started at 30 pounds and is now 14 pounds.
